It was odd, really. Charity supposed she ought to feel more upset about her relationship with Finn fizzling out like that. Instead, she just felt an urge to hang out with Lizzie, like they did before Charity had gone all goo goo eyed over Finn. There was the small matter of the book that she had yet to read, and Charity pulled it out from inside her pillow case and looked at it curiously.

Though it hadn't occurred to her until now, she remembered that Lizzie had gone all... grumpy and weird when Charity had mentioned reading the book with Finn. It really wasn't like her at all. She leaned her head out of her bed's curtains and hissed to the bed next to her own.

"Psst! Lizzie!" After a quick glance around to see if any of the others were listening, she went on. "Come in here and let's read that book your sister sent!"

Who: Augustus Pye; Students of Ancient Runes.
What: Ancient Runes for 4th-7th Years.

The Hogwarts Express leaves Kings Cross Station, London without fail at 11 a.m. on September First. It has done so every year, and will continue to do so, and this bright September morning was no exception. The bustle on the platform as families said goodbye was, perhaps, quieter than usual. More worried. With the rumours and evidence of dark happenings growing stronger every day, a large number of the parents were less happy about sending their children off.

Still, it was Hogwarts, and for many their only option, and so here they were, and what they lacked in good spirits they made up for in tight hugs and words of love, for the most part. Perhaps some felt better because it was Hogwarts, a bastion of safety for centuries, but the worry and trepidation was thick in the air of Platform 9 3/4 as students kissed their parents goodbye and boarded the scarlet train, ready (or not) for another year.

Charity felt like she'd been scurrying around shoving things in drawers and under the bed for an age, but it had really only been ten or so minutes, once she'd factored in all the time she'd spent scribbling in her journal to Verity. She glanced around herself and bit her lip, hoping she'd succeeded in making it look clean but not scary.

She'd changed from the skirt and blouse she'd worn out shopping with her mother that morning, into a clean t shirt and her favorite old blue jeans. Since she wasn't leaving the house, she'd left shoes out of the equation, but had carefully chosen her socks, one yellow and one black, since Finn would see them and they were both in Hufflepuff.

She was pretty keyed up but managed to sit on the edge of her bed and wait for Finn to get there, remembering at the last minute to shove some gum in her mouth, chewing it anxiously.
