Aaron was cold, but at least he wasn't in the police station. For the men and women who worked there, the place was like an office building, a second home, a break room, and hell, all at once. Everyone else saw it on the worst day of their lives. The place was thick with every negative emotion there was a word for, and some there wasn't. On Aaron's skin it felt like a really bad sunburn that had gone rancid, and in his mind it made him anxious and resentful when he wasn't angry or scared, the latter two definitive names for a broad range of emotions. To keep his mind off of it he paced the sidewalk outside the snowbank that made up the border between precinct and road.
