Day 39.Weather: Temperatures are hovering in the low-mid sixties through-out the day and winds are calm. It’s a chilly night, so the good weather might be coming to an end soon.
Events: Those in a room with windows facing south will be among the first to find out just what that ‘party’ might entail, if they happen to look out their windows.
It’s a little hard to say
when it happened, but at some point in the night, the wharf has been completely taken over by… a carnival. The fairground music can’t be heard from the tower, but it is most certainly there - complete with rides, games, and most importantly,
food.
No one is operating the carnival. The rides seem to know when to run on their own. The food stands magically refill themselves when no one is looking. You’re on your own with the games, but if you try to take a prize without dishing out the appropriate number of tickets, yeaaaah… you are gonna get zapped. Why yes, I did say prizes.
The carnival takes up the whole of the wharf, and some of the surrounding beach on either side. All of the rides and stands have a definite vintage feel to them, but they appear sturdy enough.
The rides included are:
A Ferris Wheel
A funhouse
A carousel
A loop-o-plane
A swinging pirate ship
A tilt-a-whirl
Flying swings
A rotor ride (commonly known today as the gravitron)
A tunnel of love
A small roller coaster.
The food and drink stalls included are:
Cotton candy
Boiled peanuts
Popcorn
Funnel cake & elephant ears
Corn dogs
Candied apples
Chili fries
Fried pickles
Apple cider donuts
Corn on the cob
Old fashioned root beer
Turkey legs
Yes, once again, they thought of the vampires. Like at the last party thrown by TPTB, there are enhanced refreshments for the vampires. Placed in intervals around the fair are drink stands with four taps. They are labeled cotton candy, funnel cake, corndog, and turkey legs. The blood dispensed tastes exactly as labeled, and has been magically altered or enhanced so that no, ahem, excess ingredients need be dispensed later.
There aren’t many games to be found, but then again, I suppose it is a bit harder to make a game challenging when you’ve got psychics and werewolves in the picture. The games are skeeball, ring-toss, and a race-style shooting gallery (with water rifles that are attached to the stand and impossible to remove) with moving targets. Winning a game grants you tickets, and if you earn enough tickets you can exchange them for prizes. All the stuffed animal prizes are cheaply made and extremely generic, just like at a real fair! There’s brightly colored animals of all kinds, and even goldfish in plastic bags in case Grayson is still hungry later.
Enjoy yourselves!
