“Greetings.
It is a beautiful day, but the weather is sure to turn within the next few days. Winter is swiftly approaching. Some of you have done fine with this hiccup; some have behaved most admirably and made the best of what could be a very concerning situation. We appreciate that, but most of you cannot afford to stay out here forever.
In your stay here, there has been a repeated resistance to answering network prompts. So many of you test the limit or simply refuse to answer, preferring to stay locked in your rooms than appear even slightly cooperative. Today, you will all have to earn the privileges of getting back into your rooms.
You have all been placed in pairs of two, or one group of three. Each of you has been given an object to find somewhere in town. You must complete your objective to regain entry into the tower. You do not, however, have to work together. You have a choice.
Each of you may choose to work together as a team, and upon completing your objective, your entire team will be granted admittance back into the tower. You may also choose to compete against your partner(s), and complete the objective before they can. If you choose this path, you will regain admittance and a reward, while your competitor will remain locked out for another night. Choose carefully. Some of you have items and comforts you desperately crave, and this may be your best opportunity to obtain them.
The assignments are as follows:
- Ford and Leya: “The 'life of the party' is subject to enjoying the shortest life, and suffering the longest death the world has to offer... voluntarily.” Perhaps you’ll find an answer in a glass, after all.
- Cecilia and Eris: “As different as a moonbeam from lightning, or frost from fire.” You have to find a spot where your elements met in violence.
- Marco and Bastien: “I don't want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” Perhaps a self-portrait is in order.
- Grayson and Edwin: “In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they're still beautiful.” Find a place where art was created in the wild.
- Jesse and Tanner: “If it is the dirty element that gives pleasure to the act of lust, then the dirtier it is, the more pleasurable it is bound to be.” It’s a subject you’re both comfortable with. You should be able to find it.
- Gwen and Theodore: “Few humans see fairies or hear their music, but many find fairy rings of dark grass, scattered with toadstools, left by their dancing feet.” Find a mark of your ancestors.
- Damarcus and Warinder: “Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.” A space between notes, indeed.
- Julie and Sabina: “People need hard times and oppression to develop psychic muscles.” Find a place of oppression.
- Winter and Daphne: “Clothes aren't going to change the world. The women who wear them are.” You both are very comfortable here.
- Shay and Taissa: “She has fought many wars, most internal. The ones that you battle alone, for this, she is remarkable. She is a survivor.” You have both fought many battles. Find another like you.
- Yasiel and Calvin: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.” It’s in a place of mistakes.
- Oriana and Ari: “Any woman who is sure of her own wits, is a match, at any time, for a man who is not sure of his own temper.” Gonna need some ice for that burn.
- Poe and Royal: “Be master of your petty annoyances and conserve your energies for the big, worthwhile things. It isn't the mountain ahead that wears you out - it's the grain of sand in your shoe.” Find a seashell painted gold.
- Hollis and Hiroki: “I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.” Find a light in a dark place.
- Simone and Ravi: “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.” You both like to fix things. Find a place in need.
- Hunter and Birdie: “Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.” You both need to find something sweet.
- Oliver and Gable: “Getting old is like climbing a mountain; you get a little out of breath, but the view is much better!” Seek higher ground.
- Nathan and Santiago: “I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees.” A familiar place, looked at in unfamiliar ways.
- Alexis and Ram and Linds: “If cats looked like frogs we'd realize what nasty, cruel little bastards they are. Style. That's what people remember.” Felicitas would be too obvious. Find another place where style matters.
