Knights and Porns

Who: Chase and Kyle
Where: Near the arena
When: Afternoon

Chase had watched Justin's first two matches, completely pleased with how his knight was doing and trying not to focus too hard on how easy it was to slip into thinking about him as 'his'. He just had to keep that out of what he was doing with Justin and he'd be fine, but it was fun to cheer him on and now, to watch his coat of arms move up on the scoreboard. Definitely proud. He'd have to tell him later.

Kyle had stuck to his guns. He had avoided all of the rounds. Instead, he had made a deal with the blacksmith. The smith had been overworked with orders, and having seen Kyle work the day before had been happy to trade direction and training in exchange for free labour.

By the time midafternoon rolled round, Kyle was covered in soot and sweat and ravenously hungry. Deciding to take a break, he pulled off his shirt and rinsed off at the well. Rinsing out his shirt, he left it hanging round his neck as he collected some food. He was feeling really good. Working had taken his mind off of all his worries, and whilst his muscles ached, he had the deep satisfaction that came with creation - even if all he'd been doing all day was sharpening swords and repairing armour. It gave him the confidence to wander over to the scoreboards. To finally look see how Adam was doing.

You suck at pep talks

Who: Adam and Mazie
Where: outside the tournament
When: midday

Adam had made it through his first match! There wasn’t even anything he could lie about it. He’d won. It was incredible. Of course it had been incredibly close and he’d almost been hurt pretty bad, but you know what? He’d won. And maybe he could do it again. He’d have to do it again because he had a break, but he had another match coming up before too long. He was sitting off to the side, trying to catch his breath, trying not to grin too much because of what Brett had warned against.

Looking for Answers

Who: Christer and Tierney
Where: Near the stables
When: Afternoon

Christer was trying not to focus too much on his feelings around Lindsey, her knight, and himself, which had him throwing himself into his job which wasn’t even his real job, but he’d been suited to work in the stables just like had been at home. He worked until he was exhausted, finally sitting outside the stables with something that mustered for lunch, watching people pass. They were staring at him again, blonde hair hanging in his eyes, but more than that, he’d gone down to just a flimsy shirt with shorter sleeves, showing off the tattoos that trailed up and down his arms. He knew that was what they were looking at. They always were.

Tierney had met Sullivan, and gone with him to the tournament. But at some point, she’d wandered off and wasn’t able to catch up with him again. She wasn’t worried about it, if they really did come from the same hotel, they’d cross paths again. And if not, she’d survive. With his watch, which she didn’t have to steal after all. Bonus. She was doing a little exploring now when she spotted the tattooed blonde. Well, that didn’t seem to fit the way most other people looked around here. And that was a good thing. Approaching him, she didn’t bother to lean down, she was short enough that he wouldn’t have to look up very high to see her face. “Hey. Nice ink.”

Hiding Out

Who: Tierney and Ella
Where: The Catherdral
When: Night time

During her first few hours of wandering around the place she came to know as Lavel, Tierney was still in a bit of denial. None of this seemed real and she couldn't be sure that any of the people she'd encountered were actual people and this all just wasn't a dream world. But once the animals started attacking shit got real, fast. Thankfully, Tierney knew what to do in an emergency, so she was able to quickly draw from her frame of reference. And the best thing to do in this situation was run. Which she did, as fast as she could. She took shelter in the church, and waited until things seemed to calm down outside. But as night fell, she was even less inclined to go outside, not if there were still rabid-like animals ready to attack. So instead, she waited, and wandered about the cathedral.

The Weaponized Animal

Who: Mickey and Monica (Open to Attack Threads)
Where: the banquet
When: evening

Mickey had done really well in the events. He wasn’t sure what it said about him, but he didn’t back down from a fight that was for sure and despite it not being a type of fighting he was used to he, figured out the worse of it. He wasn’t any good at archery, but he’d done enough to get through to the next round and tomorrow he’d be competing again. It had earned him a little bit of attention with the others knights, but he did as he always had, blending well with them, and keeping everything to himself. He moved away from the crowd, refilling his drink, watching things from a distance for a moment.

Monica had spent her day watching the events, playing now and again for people. It was a little strange when she played, she noticed, but wasn't sure what to think of it besides maybe the people here were used to worse music, and that was why they were so wrapped up in her songs. Getting thirsty, she went to pour herself some more wine, and smiled at the man who had just gotten himself another drink. “Good evening,” she greeted pleasantly.

EVENT

A little after night falls, when things are still in full swing, all hell breaks loose. Animals descend upon the festivities, all in some coordinated attack. Everything from a scurry of chipmunks to a pack of wolves all come in to wreck havoc. It's like all those creatures from Disney Princess movies went into full on crazy rabid attack mode. Birds and bats swoop in, knocking torches over, fires break out all over the place, people screaming and crying, the whole place becoming hell in extremely short order.

ponder things

Who: Edison and Kennedy
Where: near the tournament grounds
When: afternoon

Edison was doing his best to both keep Harlow and her violent attitude under control and ready for whatever lay ahead and keep an eye out for Bianca at the same time. He hated that the redhead had just left his side without thinking about the consequences, but there was little he could do about it. She was determined to think he was talking down to her, which was unfair considering that had been all she’d done to him and it hadn’t been his intention in the first place. He’d gotten Harlow settled with her gear and pushed towards the holding area to prep for the competition and he found himself a seat in the crowd, close enough to be of service to her if she needed him, but also well out of the fray of things.

Despite the craziness of the situation, he’d spent plenty of time the day before and this morning listening in on rumors, asking questions here and there, and taking in a good deal of information about the area they were in and the tournament itself. He was lost in his own mind at the moment, turning over the pieces for clues as to why they were there in the first place, but so far nothing was coming to him.

Kennedy was relaxing. She was off to the side of the tournament block, lying on the ground as she basked in the sun for a bit. Her head was cradled by her arms, and she was hoping no stray horses or people stepped on her. But if they did, she probably wouldn't actually care that much. Mostly, she was blanking out, just being there-but-not.

Plan B

Who: Mai and Kai
Where: around
When: late morning

Mai had spent the morning looking for her sister, asking around here and there until she was finally pointed in the right direction. People were giving her looks sure, the fancy gown and the fact that she’d been called out as betrothed to the prince at the banquet wasn’t lost on anyone it seemed, but she pressed on until she found the familiar face she was looking for. “Kai!”

Kai had been having a pretty great day. She was still on a high from things with Ronin, and the weird place they were was fascinating. So, she hadn’t been stressing, which might have been weird, but for her it didn’t seem to be. As she heard Mai, she turned to smile at her sister. “Hey!” she said. “You look gorgeous, you know that?”

Non-comprehend-y

Who: Kyle and Mazie
Where: Out and About
When: Early morning

It had been late when Kyle had finally made it back to the tent the night before. He’d waited until things were quiet, then headed back and ended up wrapped up in blankets with Adam. After everything, it felt like the right thing to do. Still, he found himself awake before dawn, and extracted himself from the blankets whilst his boyfriend was still sleeping, figuring that he would go for a walk or something. There had been word at the banquet last night about exactly what today would bring for the ‘knights’. Stress and worry wouldn’t let him just lie there any longer.

Mazie had slipped out of the tent early enough to go sweet-talk her way into some freshly baked bread from one of the merchants in town. She was walking back toward the tent with a loaf under her arm and a half-eaten croissant in her hand when she saw Kyle. "What's up?" She asked, heading his way with a grin on her face. "Want some bread?"

The Challenge

Who: Brett and Finn
Where: By the scoreboards
When: Afternoon

By the time the last rounds were ending of the hand to hand combat, Finn was patched up and mentally getting himself focused for the next task at hand. He was dutifully ignoring what had happened with Lindsey and her reaction, because he didn't want to focus on it or the rejection. He could think about when there wasn't a tournament to win. As he watched the last men walk away from the match, the knight in dark armor having bested his opponent, his eyes cut to the placement boards, watching that man's coat of arms move to the same level as his own, marking them as two of the best. When the knight passed him he smiled, all warmth and sunshine in his blue eyes. "So you're the man to beat then?" he asked, seeming as if he was enjoying every second since he was.

Bedside Manner

Who: Finn and Lindsey
Where: Finn’s tent
When: late morning

Finn had had a great morning in the hand to hand combat ring. He'd bested all his opponents, knocking out more competitors than any other knight and moving his name to the top of the list. There was archery this afternoon, but for now he was back in his tent, having left his equipment with Norman to take care of and was peeling himself out of his tunic, inspecting the cuts and bruises across his skin. There were other scars as well, here and there from similar tournaments and bouts, but nothing too jarring.

Educational Standoff

Who: Adam and Brett
Where: Near the arena
When: Morning

For all his talk, Adam was nervous about this competition now. He'd seen more than one bleeding person carted off the pitch and he was starting realize that while he was deceptively strong, he was still smaller than the other knights. It made him jittery, which dressed in his armor was obvious as it clattered some with every bounce he made. His original goal had been to do good, but now he was pretty sure it was shifting to not dying and not throwing up before he went out there.

Brett had positioned himself off to one side, away from people yet in a position to be obvious and visible. Intimidation was part of who he was now. He generally didn't talk to anyone, not unless it was to his advantage. And as he saw the green around the gills newbie passing by, he saw something to his advantage. Not rising from his seated position, in full, dark armour, he dropped his broadsword into Adam's path. Close enough to shock, but not enough to hurt.

Unfamiliar But Interesting Surroundings

Who: Marian and OPEN
Where: Around the tournament grounds
When: midday

Marian was completely baffled by everything. They'd found their way to the tournament as a trio, but Marian had to wander off to explore some. She couldn't help it. It was too damn curious and for someone with the curiosity of a cat, Marian was determined to wander about, taking in the sights and wishing she had a notebook to take notes with. She was still dressed in the same dress from the day before, a deep forest green that fit her perfectly, surprisingly perfectly, and stood out against her hair, though her hair wasn't tamed at all, a mess of curls that frame her face. She kept pushing at it, taking in the sights at the carts of things to buy, looking at different people, following knights with her eyes as they passed by.

Ribbons and Curls

Who: Christer and Lindsey
Where: Outside the combat ring
When: Morning

Lindsey had livened up her livery that morning with ribbons. They were subtle, the same colors as in the crest, tied around wrists, elbows, and shoulders. They gave the outfit a little bit more of a feminine touch without being ridiculous. At least in her mind which was what mattered to Lindsey. She wasn't thrilled with the mostly drab clothing so she was making do and amusing herself in the process. It felt necessary anyway as a means to support her knight on the sidelines while he competed. Which was seriously exciting for Lindsey. Of course, she didn't like seeing the real danger and some of the bloody things that transpired but when it was pure action without that stuff, it was like watching a really amazing movie. Live.

She sat to the side and out of the way of the rest of the throng of onlookers in the makeshift stands. She'd seen those things being erected and she was not risking breaking her neck when they collapsed. Nope. Plus she could see better from where she sat and she was more accessible to Finn and Norman should they need her. Not that she was all that helpful at this stage. She had already lodged her dainty refusal to clean blood from swords. That should not be a girl's job, right? So it was simply time for sideline cheerleading even if she did get some strange looks.

Who: Ella and Ash
Where: Around the grounds
When: Around noon

Ella was still trying to make sense of everything that had occurred to her in the last twenty-four hours. She went to bed slightly buzzed and woke up in a strange new place with clothing she would never be caught dead wearing. It didn't take her long to realize she wasn't in her own time period and the first question that entered her mind was - how did I get here? You would think that the clothes alone would be a dead giveaway about her location (not necessarily how she got there), but no the atmosphere was what convinced her this was real and the strange new smells she was encountering verified that. She looked down, noticing the colors and pattern of her attire and wondered if it meant anything. She decided to spend the day looking for people wearing similar outfits and quickly learned the significance once she did. The information intrigued her.

It took her a few hours to accept her new reality, but she soon found herself embracing it and deciding to make the best of this situation. This was a new place to explore and she was going to seize the opportunity to do just that. She liked the change of scenery, especially because back at the hotel she was starting to get a little stir crazy. At first it was amusing to try to leave only to end up in someone's room or a utility closet, but after a while she was certain it would get old - not that she knew for a fact since she had only tried to leave twice and both times she ended up in some random closet. As she walked around the grounds of Lavel she took the time to notice who was around, what they were doing and since she knew her role in this place it was easy to return to her duties if she felt bored by the amount of free time on her hands.

Chapter 2 - Day 2: The Tournament Begins!

After a full day of preparation, the tournament events finally commence on this day. Featuring hand-to-hand battles among the entered contestants and an archery competition, today’s tournament will weed out the weaker competitors and conclude in another banquet that evening. Those who won their battles today will compete in the final event of the tournament tomorrow: jousting.

Is that allowed?

Who: Adam and Kennedy
Where: The banquet
When: evening

Adam was still fighting to keep the grin off his face, tugging at his hair to try and get it under control, but in general he just seemed happy with himself. Though who could blame him? He had a boyfriend. An actual, real live, boyfriend. The Kind that wanted to be with him. It was ridiculous. That was ignoring everything else as well, the sex, the attention, that sort of deep connected feeling that only came with a significant other. All of that was halfway to plastered across his face as he snuck back into the party, trying to seem like he’d been the there whole time.

Not Normal or Average

Who: Justin and Chase
Where: The banquet
When: Evening

Chase was doing his best to play proper squire to Justin, which wasn’t really hard for him. He was used to serving and going unnoticed. That was essentially his life in a strip club as a bartender. Just had a moment alone though as Chase brought back another mug of whatever it was everyone was drinking and set it in front of him. “You seem to be holding yourself well enough. And attracting quite a bit of attention.” He nodded towards a group of women staring at Justin from a few tables away. Not that Chase blamed them. He would stare himself if he let himself do that sort of thing.
