Title: 'Know Thine Own Heart; The Scandalous (and Spiritual) Tale of Mr Harry Potter
Author: necromanticnoir
Other pairings/threesome: Harry/Random naughty men (for about, ooh, thirty seconds; not rape)
Rating: NC-17
Word count: 73,500
Warning(s): (highlight for spoilers) *Harry is over 18 right from the beginning. BDSM, Cross-dressing, Rimming, Character Death (not Snape or Harry), Homicide/Murder, Hurt/Comfort, Violence*
Prompt: 150: Snape kidnaps Harry, but why? This prompt got a bit swamped by the mammoth story that grew around it, but it is there.
Summary: London, 1816. Genteel young clerk Harry Potter is blackmailed by the sinfully wicked Severus Snape. By what does Mr Snape truly desire, and what does it take for Harry to know his own heart? This is Regency-style Harry Potter with cock-fighting *wink*, some good old-fashioned duelling and some scandalous lovemaking – plus a dash of spiritual true, true love.
A/N: Endless thanks must go to Slytherinandproud for amazing beta work, and to accioslash for her support. The story was inspired by my lifelong love of Regency romance novels, in particular those of Georgette Heyer. The plot owes, in a couple of small places, to a few other of my favourite period romances, in particular ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’. Other lines pop up, one from Wilde, and one from ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’, as does the full version of a horsy drabble I wrote last year… Corde Amare translates as ‘to love with passion’. I did a ton of research into the clothes, places and customs of Regency London and Bath (just *had* to go there and have a cream tea – for research purposes, of course!), and hope you enjoy reading Regency Harry and Severus as much as I enjoyed writing them.
