The proposal had been a joke, Geoffrey was sure everyone knew that, but the cupcakes were definitely real. He had actually found himself trekking down to the kitchens to grab some. He didn't bake them himself, why would he when the house elves already had them prepared? But he did add the icing. He returned to the common room, tray in hand, after getting the photo developed and taped into his journal. He had brought extras, without letters just to share, and plopped onto a random chair to devour one.

Who: Jimmy and Demelza.
What: Locker room talk and Quidditch.
Where:: Gryffindor lockers and then the Pitch.
When: Sunday, September 4th; Afternoon.
Status: Closed, incomplete.

The portrait of the Fat Lady swung back wide for Ron as he spoke the password and started leading the first years into the Gryffindor dorms for the first time. Older students followed in after, some of them laughing at the first years and their looks of wonder, some of them chatting excitedly about the year to come, and more than a few of them quieter than usual, knowing that things were definitely not getting better in the world.

Who: Anyone going to Hogwarts.
What: The train ride.
Where: Platform 9 3/4 and then the Hogwarts Express

The Hogwarts Express leaves Kings Cross Station, London without fail at 11 a.m. on September First. It has done so every year, and will continue to do so, and this bright September morning was no exception. The bustle on the platform as families said goodbye was, perhaps, quieter than usual. More worried. With the rumours and evidence of dark happenings growing stronger every day, a large number of the parents were less happy about sending their children off.

Still, it was Hogwarts, and for many their only option, and so here they were, and what they lacked in good spirits they made up for in tight hugs and words of love, for the most part. Perhaps some felt better because it was Hogwarts, a bastion of safety for centuries, but the worry and trepidation was thick in the air of Platform 9 3/4 as students kissed their parents goodbye and boarded the scarlet train, ready (or not) for another year.

There is a giant field with room for thousands. There are stands with room for thousands more. At one end, a huge stage with a gigantic Weird Sisters banner at the back, in case anyone forgot who they were there to see. It's the biggest event of the summer, with the biggest band in Wizarding Britain, playing for the biggest crowd they have ever played for. And the show is about to begin...
