Preview for the new Batman From the DCUBlog, some Preview pages from Batman 688
I'll skip over the first four images, which show Dick getting the shit kicked out of him by a shadowy figure, in the Bat-vault, someone who clearly knows where it is. Is it Lucius Fox PO'd at Dick nicking all the good R&D toys? Is it Jason? I don't know, but it IS a Winnick story. Whoever it is had better be in line for a righteous smackdown, as I thought we were past "Dick gets taken down by a mysterious badguy to show how badass they are" when he put the ears on... it would appear not alas.
Oh, and appropos of little, click here for a 45 minute animated superhero fanfilm you might enjoy, as it has just about EVERYONE in it. The style is a little too close to Family Guy for my tastes, but IS thorough... sort of

Batman 416 [7 scans] Pretty sure this hasn't been posted.
This is Dick and Jason's very first meeting from Batman 416. Say hello to Discowing. This is also the issue when Bruce says he took on Jason because he missed Dick, which results in Dick giving Jason his old costume (how many of these things does he have?!) in a sweet moment at the end, which I included.
Best moment imho: Dick descending on a bunch of bad guys saying ( My name's Nightwing! I may not be the gent you were expecting but let me assure you , like him, I'm the stuff of nightmares. )
Credits: Jim Starlin (plot, script); Jim Aparo (pencils); Mike DeCarlo (inks); Adrienne Roy (colors); Agustin Mas (letters); Dennis O'Neil (edits)

Batman #412: Enemy Mime cat_13145 wanted to see Batman #412, which features Jason grinning, rock, a mime, and the obligatory bad puns.
It's the last time Collins wrote Jason on Batman, and I was going to focus again on Jason's characterization, but I'm a sucker for how the design of the mime. The art, which is by Cockrum, has a very clean, dynamic look, so I ended up doing a lot more 'general story' than a Jason post.

It's about to get REALLY colourful as our villain meets his nemesis-to-be - Crazy Quilt Pt 2 Well, after Crazy Quilt had made such an impression on the Boy Commandos, it would be three years before he would appear again, and prove to be a threat to the one boy who can NEVER go commando...
From 1952's Star Spangled Comics 123 (Which was the first title to feature Robin's solo adventures)

Women in Dumpsters: Batman and Jason as Robin Batman #414, #421, #422; 7 scans from each issue, plus the cover.
These three issues form a bigger story arc. The basic plot is such: there's been a series of killings of young women in Gotham, and Batman is searching the murderer. There are a few headdesky plot points, but don't let that drive you away: it's a very good story. #422 especially is wonderfully constructed, but the rest is nonetheless interesting on its own.
I'm posting it because it's an arc than ran during Jason's period as Robin, and though Jason only appears in #422, the story deals with some themes that are inherently linked to his character. Emotional involvement, anger issues, the difference between what is “just” and what is legal, attitude toward women-as-victims, all of which are expanded upon. My comments regarding how the action relates to Jason's character are in italics.
Batman #422 is Jason's last appearance before Garzonas, in Batman #424.

Catwoman's Origin: Also Multiple Choice (but some choices are better than others) Recently, the issue of Catwoman's origin came up. Specifically, the post-Crisis Y1 retcon that she was a prostitute, inspired by "real man" Batman to dress up like a loony and follow in his footsteps, or something; the subsequent Zero Hour retcon to something much better; and the innumerable other retcons that ignored the Zero Hour retcon in favor of Miller's take, only more XTREEM, adding rape, underaged victimization, etc etc.
And since everything is more clear with scans, I thought I'd post those two different takes, so everybody can see the contrast for themselves.

Robin's Worst Week - A requested reposting from the old s_d This is from Batman 246 - Story by Frank Robbins, Art by Dick Dillin, Irv Novick and Dick Giordano
It's one of those covers that I'm sure just LEAPT off of the gets endlessly repeated by those with delightfully prurient minds.. in other words the entire membership of scans_daily!
But what goes on inside this testament to the perils of dabbling with autoerotic asphyxiation horror and fear? This masterclass in "Sidekick in peril"-dom? Now the story can be told... well, selected chunks of it. (I think this totals out at around 7 pages from a 23 page story.)

Why so Disturbing, Baby Bruce? This is from Batman Black & White, The Lesson, in which Dick Grayson is trying to prove he's ready to be Robin. This prompts Bruce to have a memory about his childhood, which is depicted below.
