thank you! thank you! these are lovely... the last one is quite sad though. i read the one where they got together (thanks to the Scarecrow) but were there any stories about their married life at all?

You realize that could be what actually got her to get interested in Batman.

Was that your first time seeing the famous "Papa Spank" panel?

Be prepared to see it another billion times or so, assuming you stay around internet comics sites.

I hang around a lot of comic sites/blogs/whatever, but they're more art-centric than fan. I never have enough time to devote to fan-sites--they move faster than I do. I'm attempting to keep with daily-scans, but uh...it's a crap-shoot. ;)

So no. Never seen it anywhere.

Aww, and Bruce even let her go that first time because he had a crush on her. Dawwww... ;)

Someone should really post "The Autobiography of Bruce Wayne!" from The Brave and the Bold Vol.1 #197 (Apr. 1983). Alan Brennert makes me cry, as per usual. And it's even pencilled by Joe Staton as well.

So, where did Earth 2 Dick end up, if he didn't stick around in Gotham in the yellow tights? He doesn't seem to be at Selina's funeral, which is terribly sad. Were he and Bruce estranged somehow?

But, wow, that's quite a sad and horrifying end for Selina. Is it a rule that Bruce can never be happy?

If I remember correctly, he's a diplomat at the UN. I don't think he was particularly estranged at this time, but work could have easily kept him from being there.

I love the boat moment, when he lets her go. "Fancy that!" 'Kay, Batman.

It's like the 'whole rest of the story' four panels, starting with Batman #1.

For all the confusing plotlines that the Crisis cleared up, it also wiped out a hell of a lot of good things, and this is one of them. Earth-2 was really one of the more logical takes on superheroes out there, if you think of it, because it took DC's classic heroes and allowed them to grow old, allowed them to die, allowed them to retire and have kids, just like they were real people - while keeping them intact in the regular universe. It worked very well, in my opinion, and gave us so much good stuff - Power Girl, the Huntress, Infinity Inc., Jade and Obsidian, etc. It's an awful shame that it got wiped out.

I agree. THe multiple Earths were 'too confusing' for DC's readership, which shows how little DC thought of their readership's intellectual capacity. Funny how, years later, both of the major publishers have multiple universes once again.

Exactly. What's so complicated about it? Multiple Earths are the perfect solution - if something doesn't make sense here, it happened there. If a character (like Captain Marvel) only really works if he's got an Earth to himself, then give him one. If nothing works anywhere, retcon it out. The only difficulty is in figuring out who or what goes where. If anything, the Crisis made things MORE complicated for newbies to figure out, because now there are entire decades worth of storylines that don't make any sense ANYWHERE.
