Etta Candy
This Etta-centric little side story was published in Wonder Woman #5 in the summer of '43.

BTW, there's a wonderful Etta Candy article over at Girl Wonder.

A perfect moment: The Nameless Monster
Okay, I've fallen in love with the works of Naoki Urasawa. So, I figured I would stop lurking and share a bit from one of his best series: Monster. Monster is...well, it's hard to describe without spoiling it. At it's heart, it's about a man wandering the world (well, Germany for the most part) and trying to set right a wrong from his past. To do this he has to hunt down a monster. Along the way, his strong sense of morality causes him to intervene in others problems, all while the police chase him and he struggles to find out more about the monster's past (the better to track him down).

But this post isn't about that man. This is about his quarry. He goes by many aliases. Many seek him out, convinced that they can harness his massive charisma and intellect for their own purposes. But the monster has his own agenda, and people who come close to him for too long have a nasty habit of dying.

One Perfect Moment: Nyssa
While the time she killed her father and took over the League of Assassins was pretty cool, Nyssa's One Perfect Moment is when she tries to talk Cassandra Cain out of being so dependent on Batman's way of doing things.

OPM: Lois Lane- Man of Steel #4
Lois Lane is bar none my favorite DC character. In fact, she's my favorite female fictional character period. She is tough and smart and more than a little bit reckless. I love that she doesn't take crap from anyone and suffers fools, well, not at all. This moment pretty much encapsulates everything I love about Lois Lane.

Scans Daily Resource Exchange
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Thanks to [info]icon_uk 's One Perfect Moment theme, SD 2.0 has seen its busiest week yet, with +200 posts, and 51 posts on Tuesday alone! (So far. There's still time to get your OPM posts in - post people, post!) Round of applause for [info]icon_uk , everybody.

One Perfect Moment brought a bunch of new (and nearly new) posters out of the woodwork, so I thought now would be a good time to do a resource exchange. Veteran SDers! Here's your chance to share all your hard-earned scanning, posting and general Scans Daily knowledge. *points to soapbox* Climb up.

Mandrake and Lothar ride swimming polar bears (no, seriously)

Lee Falk was one of the best storytellers ever to work in newspaper strips. It's a skill of precision. Every day you have to establish what's going on and have something happen, then leave a cliffhanger to make readers want to come back. Writing strips requires a certain rhythmn and economy of words unlike regular prose or comic books or radio or movies. Falk was great at it, there's a reason both Mandrake and the Phantom were so popular for so long.

From December 1936..

Okay, so I'm a huge fan of El Dragon. I don't care that he only appeared in the Cracktionary. He's awesome. It's my personal canon that there is an Earth-Education out there, and El Dragon is its greatest hero.

One Perfect Moment - Shrike (and an unexpected moment with Punch and Jewelee)
No, not the Nightwing villain, this is the D-list villain (Well, given the status of Nightwing's Shrike, possibly better to classify her as ANOTHER D-list villain called Shrike).

A former member of a one shot villain team called the Cadre, whose claim to fame was they were the first villain team created to fight the Detroit JLA (if claim to fame is the right turn of phrase for that)
