Batman 416 [7 scans]
Pretty sure this hasn't been posted.

This is Dick and Jason's very first meeting from Batman 416. Say hello to Discowing. This is also the issue when Bruce says he took on Jason because he missed Dick, which results in Dick giving Jason his old costume (how many of these things does he have?!) in a sweet moment at the end, which I included.

Best moment imho: Dick descending on a bunch of bad guys saying My name's Nightwing! I may not be the gent you were expecting but let me assure you , like him, I'm the stuff of nightmares. )

Credits: Jim Starlin (plot, script); Jim Aparo (pencils); Mike DeCarlo (inks); Adrienne Roy (colors); Agustin Mas (letters); Dennis O'Neil (edits)

One Perfect Moment: Darkseid
Having seen a lot of villainous perfect moments, I've noticed a common trend. A lot of bad guys talk about how evil they are. Green Goblin plays around with a Gwen Stacy doll. The Joker teases Babs. Etc, etc. But when you're really evil. I mean, when you're dag-nasty bad? You don't have to advertise.

Hey there. First post on the new SD. JUst wanted to get this one in before the week is over.

From "Transformers: Stormbringer #4" by Simon Furman and Don Figueroa. Thunderwing, a massive robot gone crazy after experimenting on himself with a bio-grafting techinque, is rampaging on Cybertron and the Decepticons are this close to just blow up the whole planet just to be done with it. The Cowboy Wally Show, Chapter Four: Cowboy Wally's Late Night Celebrity Showdown
I was kind of surprised to find that some people had never seen the glory that was The Cowboy Wally Show. So, to further tempt those who haven't read it to stampede your local comics shop and order the novel for their own, here's a few more pages, these from Chapter Four: "Cowboy Wally's Late Night Celebrity Showdown".

"And SCENE..." week
A proposal to the S_D community for a theme this coming week:

We all hear voices in our heads, especially when reading comics. As noted in a lot of instances this week, you can imagine a scene with someone's voice speaking the words of our beloved and despised characters. Basically assigning a well known (or up and coming actor) the voice of an actor/actress reading the lines, and giving them the depth or whimsy or spirit we know they can impart like no one else can. I'm hoping to avoid a lot of the givens, "gimme's" and "for sures" (I am dating myself) since the DCAU nailed a LOT of the voices. Kevin Conroy as (IS!) "The Batman", Mark Hamill "the Joker", Clancy Brown's "Lex Luthor" had intelligence, cunning, cruelty and class that had escaped previous version before him. Peter Cullen IS Optimus Prime.

Like casting for radio play. So stretch your mind, and give an example if you can. Who do yo hear in your mind when you read said parts:

For my entry, and I hope it starts a trend this week, I revisit this great scene posted recently. With nods and respect to kali921

One Perfect Moment: Spirou & Fantasio
My first post here, although I've been following the community on and off for quite a while. But I couldn't let One Perfect Moment pass by without one of my very favorite teams, Spirou and Fantasio.

A lot of folks in North America have never heard of this series, even though it's been running since the 1930's over in France, and it's a total shame. European comics are fantastic, but hardly anyone scanlates them (does anyone, come to that?) because everyone and their little dog Toto is busy scanning manga to deal with a bit of French. Anyhow, the action is clear enough to know what's going on, so it's still easy enough for us anglophones to follow.

In any case, by way of setup, Spirou is an adventurer/reporter (and former bellhop, who retains elements of his original uniform) who lives with his best friend (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Fantasio, who's similarly an adventurer/reporter. Spirou tends toward the strong sense of justice and heroism, and is also a well-trained fighter in his own right. Fantasio, by contrast, is much wackier and fun-loving, and is able to pull off rather impressive feats under duress, such as crossing a river by using crocodiles as stepping-stones, and so forth. The third member of the team is Spip, Spirou's pet squirrel, who has rather cynical thought bubbles and seems aware of the narrator, although he gets on well with our two heroes (who I'm convinced are way more than "just friends").

Requests!
Time once again for you to pester your fellow SDers with requests.

Once a month we will have a requests post where members can ask for certain scans to be posted. Other members seeking inspiration can look through the requests and fulfill someone's dream. Posting a request is no guarantee of its being filled, but request posts will be archived so that members can look through comments from previous months and answer them if they so desire.

The most recent request post will be linked to in the community's profile.

So Scans Daily, what do you want?

***

And don't forget, we're doing a resource exchange here. So if there's something you've been itching to ask your fellow posters, but were afraid to look like a noob, here's your chance.

A perfect moment: Inspector Runge
Okay, so you have an wrongfully accused man chasing a guilty one. You need a cop to chase the innocent one, too, right? Monster provides us with a rather creepy one named Runge (Lunge in some translations and the anime).

Runge has two defining characteristics. The first, is that he has an odd mnemonic device to store information. Basically, he types the information on the air, and it's stored in the computer in his head. Then simply make the appropriate gestures, and the information is retrieved. This is both very creepy and oddly cool, and the almost robotic nature of those gestures highlights his second defining characteristic: he is one of the most single-minded people in all of fiction. This is the trait we'll be examining in our perfect moment.

We had a request for this in the new monthly thread, so I'm sneaking it in under the wire. Here we have 2 1/2 pages from Avengers #229, my crops but not my scans. The setup: For months and months Egghead and the Masters of Evil have been running Hank Pym around like a wind-up toy, and forced him to work on a longevity machine for Egghead.

Normally I am a cautious buyer. I read reviews. I read samples. I do a quick flip-through in the store.

This comic was the exception. This was the comic I bought sight unseen, based on the cover alone.

Golden Age Wonder Woman Bondage Seance Crack
This is one of my favorite WW stories ever. It was in the collection I got when I was 8 and read about a hundred thousand times. It's the first appearance of Dr. Psycho, and features two of Marston's obsessions: the occult and bondage. This was originally published in Wonder Woman #5 in the summer of 1943.

One Perfect Moment (times three): The Authority
OK, I'm very late to the party, but I feel utterly justified in posting this (and making it so big) because, unless I'm mistaken, no one has posted any Authority bits yet. My opinion of Warren Ellis' work, particularly some of his later stuff, is mixed, but I think that his original Authority run with Bryan Hitch has him at the top of his game, and each of the three arcs has a Perfect Moment. (Big images follow. Apologies in advance for poor image quality and/or any fubars; first time posting this sort of thing to IJ.)

Three perfect moments by Grant Morrison
Now I am a great fan of the Justice League established by Grant Morrison, or the League of Gods as it often referred to, and there are so many awesome moments during the first three runs of the big creators, so it felt natural to post one of those moments, as others have already been shown. These are from Morrison's Ultramarines arc and highlight Plastic Man, Superman and of course, Batman.

Tempus Fugit: A Comic for Geeks
Alright Everyone this is my first post so be kind with the mistake unless I should correct them soon
I made an online comic comic and I thought you guys might be interested
Well the comic is in it's early issues but here what you can expect: time travel, giant roaches,Bird like aliens, agatha christie, immortals, super powers,a terribly sung musical number sung while giant robots attack (oddly enough the song will not be Mister Roboto), explosion and trench coats. Also a great many geek refrences, especially star wars refrences.

Larger Version
I thought it was a good preview picture because it has a giant roach chasing two guys plus comig from the writer/artist the roach came out good
I know the picture usually goes after a a link but i'm still working on that

101 Ways to End the Clone Saga
Near the tail end of the Clone Saga, Marvel released two one-shots. One was to pretty much fill in the blanks on how Norman Osborn did it (aka the Goblin Journal which I might post if people request enough of it). The other was this. A comic about all the writers, editors, and people who worked on the Spidey books wondering HOW IN THE HELL can they wrap this Saga which JUST WON'T DIE?! They devoted thirty-three pages to it. I will post just ten. I will warn you the things that you will read in this entry may drive a person mad.
