To those of you not from Montrose:
Pleasure to meet you, I'm MG McGonagall as I'm sure you're aware but introductions are always a good start. Thank you all for volunteering for this.
We'll have 3 full day practices in the leadup to this (it's known to all the teams, don't worry), and all I ask is that you all see your team medic to get clearance. I admit I'm excited to work with a very different team to my usual one, especially some of you that I know won't ever play for a team other than the one you're on. Don't worry, I'm not poaching anyone.
At the end of the day of course, this is a charity match and not a very intense competition. I believe there's bidding set up to pay to make you lot do a few stunts. The aim of our practices isn't going to be how to crush the opponents into dust (though I think we very well could), but how to make us look good up in the air and put on some spectacular and fun quid.
And win of course. What's the fun if you're not aiming for that?
[Kenna/Roger/Kal]
Yes this a charity match but I want you all to take advantage of the extra airtime and learning from some excellent players here.
Kal, I say this not just because she's my cousin, but Lorna has a very well earned reputation. You're not going to get a chance to work with a beater of her calibre many times in your career. So seize the chance.
Roger, the chaser set is young here but Mary has more experience than you three combined. Plus I think playing with a younger team might show you some things that you can take back to Montrose.
And Kenna, we haven't had a chance to give you a real pro match yet so consider this a great chance to learn. I'm quite looking forward to finally letting you loose on the pitch a little, take advantage of every bit of airtime you can get. Maddie has the same number of years in this league as Lennox, so she'll have seen most if not all the tricks you know.
