TIME UPDATE

Wednesday, January 18th, 2215

Weather: No changes. Ho hum.

Events: The man who built the bomb for Saito has plead guilty and been sentenced to death. This time, no public spectacles. It’s announced that he will die by lethal injection tomorrow afternoon. A few survivors and loved ones of the dead are rumored to be invited as witnesses, but it’s a much smaller affair than Saito’s death. Surprisingly, this isn’t the biggest news in Haven right now.

Liberated bandit children come in every once in a while, and while they always make the news, one is brought in this afternoon that’s a bit different. Reports come in first thing in the morning that a sixteen-year-old bandit girl is being transported to Haven. Children are almost always brought in before their teens, and the times a bandit over the age of fourteen has been brought in could counted on a single person’s fingers. These liberations are few and far between, and the event is something of a curiosity for the news.

It is reported that bandit teenagers are extremely difficult to liberate, as their parents fill their heads with hatred and lies about Haven. The paper reports that, usually, any child old enough to effectively wield a weapon will attack Haven military, so this girl being brought in is highly unusual. It’s also reported by the unit that rescued her that she approached them, asking for them to save her. No additional information about her is released, though there are a few shots of her being brought into Haven on the evening news. She looks more or less how the average Haven citizen would expect a bandit teenager to look - skinny, dirty, and dressed in layers. Also, pretty wide-eyed and bewildered by the attention.

There is some discussion on the news over what will happen to her, and whether or not it’s even safe to take on bandit children of her age. Surprisingly, there isn’t an official set age for saving bandit children. Military units have standing orders to attempt to liberate any child they come across, and they tend to use their own discretion as to what counts as a child. This issue may feature in the upcoming elections.
