[In the wake of the rabies outbreak, the carnival is emptied as quickly as possible with as many people (and props) as there are. Those without homes to go to are sent, on the owner's dime, to the motel, since it's the only place in town with enough room. An RV is parked out front of the motel that houses the carnival owner, his boyfriend, and their dog.

At Wainright Manor, which is cleared as well, the cats on the land are taken to a sanctuary in the Capital. Thankfully, all of them were vaccinated before the outbreak.]

If anyone requires transportation from the carnival grounds to the motel, there is a van going to and from every fifteen minutes. Keys can be picked up from the front desk. The carnival will be closed until we are given clearance to reopen. If you require anything from me, say so.

I'm used to street fairs and open hydrants pouring gallons water down the block around 4th of July. Repose is a completely different monster.

He comes on foot. His t-shirt has a "METRO" logo on it, the jeans are new, and he squints instead of wearing sunglasses. He walks around the driveway, looks up at the house for a moment, and then goes straight up to the door and hits the doorbell.

Misha, he wasn't real still. He was sitting at Damian's window at the Manor, one knee up and his pale gaze steady on the lake down below. He couldn't see a thing, course, on account of Damian and Eddie being a ways off, but he was reminded of 'nother vigil on 'nother night, and he didn't like the feeling of it in his belly.

He was still feeling real off 'bout that memory he'd experienced of Damian's sister, and truth was it was messing with his head a whole lot. He wasn't real worrisome troubled, not like he was earlier, on account of Damian being real soothing some, but now it was quiet, and the inquetidue in Misha's marrow was real loud. The thoughts in his mind came rushing in waves that crashed in whitecaps of stress 'gainst brow. It was too damn quiet.

In denim and real snug rose-plaid, 'long with a pink hip-scarf tied low over waistline, the boy ran his fingers through fine hair. He wasn't still. He hopped from the window to standing, and he considered his feet as he padded down the hall to the Manor's kitchen. The fridge was right there, and Misha leaned back 'gainst the kitchen island and looked at it some, wondering what there was to drink inside the door. It was real dumb thinking, and he knew Damian wouldn't approve any, but there was that sadness welling really loud, and Misha wanted to quell it something awful.
