In a post apocalyptic world, there are those looking to rebuild, and those looking simply to survive. The only place that is capable of supporting life is a city known as Refrain. This is where everyone ends up. They either find it themselves or find themselves suddenly there. Someone, or something making sure they end up there. How the world survives now is up to you. A Pan fandom game where all canon characters from any book, movie, or television show can and will show up. Low word counts and laid back atmosphere where writers can play their favorite characters from any point in canon.

This is how the world ends: June 13, 2012. A nanosecond computer error in a U.S. Defense Department laboratory results in the accidental release of Project Blue, a bio-engineered superflu virus with 99.4% communicability and a 99.4% mortality rate. First comes the fever, then the cough, then trouble breathing as the neck and face swells and turns black. Death occurs within three days of exposure to the contagion. It takes only 19 days for the virus, dubbed 'Captain Trips' by the media, to spread and wipe out almost all of humanity. Panic, martial law and anarchy sweep the world in its wake. Between June 16 and July 4, the world succumbs to a modern-day Black Plague. The stench of death and putrefaction is everywhere: rotting corpses litter the streets and almost every home. Roads and tunnels are flanked with vehicles that serve as coffins for millions who die while trying to flee the cities and their hometowns. Glass and debris are strewn across footpaths and roads from looters and panicked people trying to stock up on survival essentials. Only 0.6% of the population survives Captain Trips. You are one of the survivors. You don't know how you managed to remain immune to the virus and you don't know why. The hows and whys aren't important; what is important is finding other potential survivors. You begin trekking across the country in search of others. You see many horrors along the way, most of which you've become impervious to after all the horrors you've witnessed in the wake of Captain Trips. Eventually you start coming across crude handmade signs that tell you to go to Boulder, Colorado. Your gut tells you to follow those signs and your gut is right: after several weeks of travelling, you arrive in Boulder, exhausted, sunburnt, dehydrated, and discover a small community of survivors. The first of the survivors arrived in Boulder on July 24, 2012, almost six weeks after Captain Trips was exposed to the world. They, too, have travelled from far and wide in search of others, and have banded together to form a new democratic society known as The Free Zone. It's here that humanity must rebuild. On Christmas Day 2012, four days after the scheduled “end of the world” panic, the world came to a screeching halt. An asteroid, larger than any that had come into contact before, struck the moon, knocking it out of its place in orbit and just a bit closer to the Earth. The resulting events were catastrophic, Tsunamis buried whole cities, even states in a matter of moments. Earthquakes killed millions. Volcanoes all around the world, spewed hundreds of tons of ash into the skies, blocking out the sun and turning the world a bleak shade of gray. Then the madness started, no one knows what caused it, some speculate that it was a result of the lack of sunlight or lack of food. But people turned on each other, killed each other and then ate them. Kuru, a disease first discovered in Papua New Guinea, had reached the United States. These people in the latter stages had become so unstable, that they attacked people at random and with a ferocity that had never been seen before That was months ago and now for a small band of survivors who’ve managed to make their homes in a small subdivision of duplex homes located in the heart of Blythville, things don’t seem to be getting better anytime soon. Food is growing scarce, fuel is a rarity in and of itself, and time seems to be no one’s friend.

It's not easy being a New Yorker. But following the wake of two world wars, the rebuilt city of New York stands tall once again. Some say that the richest are reaching for heaven, while the poorest live deep down below in the slums. But even deeper down, more people live in a city underground. Such is life in 2461. The world as we know it, is mostly gone. Forever divided between a distinction between human and the super powered, also known as Tanks, and two more world wars, responsible for destroying old boundaries and laws, the citizens of Earth have bonded together against a common enemy of their own creation; the Tanks. But even united through a common fear for Tanks and diversion towards super powers, most people aren't even aware that Tanks are still used for scientific research. No wonder, you'll finally say, that they're still acting out. Augustus Moselle is credited as the father of the Tanks and has gone down in history as the man who decided to play God and give evolution a hard shove up the ass. And Humanity has paid the price ever since. |

In 2012, humanity flourished. Violet Inc., a powerful scientific corporation, began the undertaking of a new project. Project Eden was meant to solve all of the world’s problems and give humanity a chance to do things right. By 2016, Violet Inc. had made the United States a world superpower like it had never been before. Change was happening for the better. Many thought it a perfect age…until the disappearances began in 2017. People simply vanished, without rhyme or reason. Panic spread like wildfire and blame was thrown in every direction. A second wave of disappearances left the international community blaming the United States and the ever mysterious Violet Inc. The world was struck again soon after, as all major U.S. cities were gutted and leveled from numerous nuclear explosions. There was no warning. No light in the sky. Simply devastation. The current year is 2024, six years after the second Disappearance and the ravaging of the United States' major cities. Survivors have moved to rural areas or the wilderness. Strength lies always in numbers, as they say. Cults, gangs and tribes have taken hold in place of the civilized order that once was. Does the wasteland hold any hope? If so, does it lie within the structured puritanism of Angel Fire or in the chaos of Eagle Nest? Only those who continue to survive can decide what will come from humanity’s violet hour: rebuild for tomorrow or seize the day while it still remains? |
