Rogue let out a soft groan as she slowly started to wake up. Her eyes were still closed but even so, she could tell that the light in the room was obnoxiously bright and she was reluctant to open them. Her head was killing her, she felt almost like she did the morning after she’d gone to Fangtasia only without the nausea. She moved to pull the blankets over her eyes but her hands wouldn’t budge… they were tied down. Her eyes snapped open and after they adjusted to the light, she glanced down at herself, her mouth falling open in surprise when she saw that she was strapped down to some kind of medical table. What in the actual fuck? What the hell happened last night?
It took a moment, but it all came flooding back, messaging Dr. Banner, losing control to the others in her head, touching Roman- Oh god, she’d touched Roman. She’d touched him longer than she’d touched Kurt and she had no way of knowing if he was alright. She could vividly recall the look of surprise on his face and she didn’t know if she was imagining it but she thought there’d been a hint of betrayal in his eyes before he’d slipped into unconsciousness. She had to get out of here if only to make sure he was going to be okay. She doubled her efforts at pulling on the bands around her arms, wrists, and legs but to no avail. “Come on!” She pulled and she pulled but they wouldn’t give an inch. Tears of frustration spilled down her cheeks as she bit back a scream of frustration.
Calm down! Magneto’s familiar voice snapped at her. You’re simply going to tire yourself out and it’s more than clear you won’t be able to break the restraints. Rogue stopped struggling and sank back against the table. She didn’t know why she was listening to him, it was his fault she was wherever the hell this place was. Irrelevant. You’re doing what I tell you to because we both know I’m right. I know you’ve dreamed about what I went through in the second world war. He wasn’t wrong. She’d seen the hell he’d gone through, lived it like it had been her in her dreams, but he’d escaped and survived. That’s right and we can get out of here as well if you listen to me. Do you remember what happened after we left the prison?
After they left? Rogue frowned as she thought - oh. Magneto had taken her body as far as the projects, undecided if he wanted to stay there or find a cabin they could sleep in until morning before leaving Everett altogether. It was when he was thinking over his options that Rogue had regained some ground and tried to fight for full control, but instead of the usual seemingly one sided conversation, they’d argued back and forth, both of them using her voice. It was just when Rogue thought she could push them back when they’d heard something and someone hit her on the back of the head. That explained the throbbing headache and the sudden flood of fear.
“We have to get out of here,” she muttered, unaware that she’d referred to all of them instead of just herself.
