After pretending to walk out, Crane slithered his way back into the room to watch for himself the reaction. It was from a distance, in a darkened corner of the room, and he stayed still so that she wouldn't see him. For now it was enough. Her desperation was almost palpable, and it was absolutely fascinating. He wished he could track her brain waves as she experienced the hallucinations, but for now this would have to do. For a consolation prize, this was definitely a good one.
Checking the clock, he calculated how many hours he would wait before he could start a new session. It would be hard to wait, and while he generally didn't see things in this perspective, it was almost as if he was a child with a new toy. A new toy that he couldn't wait to play with until he got to break it into a million little pieces.
But, for now he would wait. He would let her panic herself into exhaustion before they resumed, and he stepped out of the room in order to prepare the new toxins.
