Repose

[It seems a strange time of year for a revamp of the carnival in the woods. It also seems a strange place to sink so much money into, but someone does just that. During the carnival's dark week, huge trucks and work crews can be seen coming in and out of Repose for days on end. They clear more space in the woods, and they take out the existing structures and replace them with prettier ones, all in red and gold. They add heaters that somehow keep the immediate area temperate, and they clear out a large space for parking, as if they expect a large amount of traffic to this time carnival in the woods.

The trailers of the performers come next, to shelter alongside the trailers of existing performers. Mermaids and fortune tellers, levitating girls and trapeze artists that seem to truly fly, the carnival becomes more performance wonder than small-town fair, with oddities and marvels walking the midway and performing in the three tents on the property. There are still rides, games, and food, but all of it is a little magical, a little better than should be available in a small town like Repose.

It only awaits to be seen whether all the money is somehow worth it for the investors, who remain nameless for the time being.]
