[As the sun rose Monday, the old magician in the strange home breathed his last. With his expiration, the magic that swirled around the strange house ended. Costumes and guests returned to their previous states.
The carousel still turned and the lights still strobed over the skating rink. No one came to remove the partygoers from the premises. The coroner came and went, escorting the dead magician out on a gurney and in a black bag, and life continued as it always had before.
At the exit, tiny thank you cards waited. They were penned by the dead man and were written on thick cardstock and in old and shaky script. Thank you for coming to my party, the cards said. I hope it was a memorable evening.]
