[There's no mention of a thunderstorm in the forecast, but it comes late that night anyway. A steady flux of thunder and lightning lasts through the night, at periods becoming so strong that it's almost bright as day outside with the type of thunder that sounds like the sky is splitting in half, and the rain that accompanies it is more pounding than soothing. The sound and light show tapers off by morning and a few of those troublesome little patches of flowers seem to have fallen victim to cloud-to-ground lightning, but the soaking rain remains throughout the day.

It's almost as if someone is not pleased.]
