This situation is out of hand and time is running short. I am requesting volunteers to find and manually reset Sentience. I don't know if anybody is working on this, but if they are, I want to help in anyway I can. Please contact me if interested or if you have information.

Also, I have some important information concerning Lain. If some of her friends could contact me, I think it would be better for everyone.

[There's a soft but grating white noise of electronic feedback, not quite static and not quite the shrill whine of interference.

It slinks in under whatever other conversations you're holding, persistant through the night even when headsets are left on bedside tables.

It continues, until it gradually takes on the rhythm of breathing.

And then, gradually, just as your ears accustom to the background noise, it becomes a thin female voice, faint and frantic, a haunted whisper over the network.]

Exposition )

[ Terminal's voice comes across the channel, but it sounds different. Lighter in tone, almost as though his usual bad-boy attitude was missing. ]

To everyone I talked with last night, I wanted to extend an apology for my harsh words. The truth of the matter is, I never had a reason to consider vampires as anything more than myth until a couple weeks ago, and after the situation a few days ago... It merely served to enforce my fears of them. There is little good in fighting amongst ourselves here, and to those I insult, I hope you will... excuse my ignorance of the matter. I shouldn't have judged all of your the same as that psycho from a few days ago.

Regardless of the matter though, most of us still have the problem of being trapped in this prison, and I know I would like to return to my home. Again I ask, that those of you willing to work with me on getting out of here, please contact me. I won't pretend to have any grand plan right now, but we should at least know who does and does not want to leave this place. Something this big can only happen if we work together.

That was...a nice attempt. At least we know there are people capable of restoring the power. That's further than I would have imagined anyone would get in one day. Hopefully your contraption does what it is supposed to.

I've heard a lot of chatter across the network of people concerned about the safety of the inhabitants due to the recent vampire attack. I can assure you that he is securely locked within the hospital and no one can get in or out. I've been monitoring the area and his movements are minimal and contained within the building.

Is there anyone other than Rido residing within there at the moment? That information would be helpful, they could possibly be in danger if he has reformed much. Purebloods have been known to possess people even if their natural form is not complete. The instances I know of have only been possession of lesser family members, but they were all blood related. The problem with this is the extent of their abilities haven't been documented very well as they typically do not venture out into society often.

Still, this is a prison. It's good to use caution when roaming around in the dark. Everyone is here for a reason, some criminals would use this to their advantage.

[ Note: This voice post is assumed to happen at night way after The "Rescue Lain" thread resolves. ]

[ Terminal has been debating what to do about the current situation. Everyone seems to be handling it in different ways, and many of them are completely in the dark as to the truth of what really happened. Some of them even choose to treat it as a chance to socialize and party. Are they really not concerned about vampires on prowl or any number of dangerous things here in the prison?

One thing was for sure though; this was a golden opportunity he could not pass up. With "Big Brother" Sentience off line, now was the perfect time to plot with other inmates on possible escape plans. Not quite sure what he is going to say, Terminal turns on his communicator. ]

Well, Sentience is down and everyone is having fun, right? With the situation as it is, doesn't it seem like a good time to try to get out of this place? Sentience is vulnerable after all, so all you people who are trapped here against your will; come talk to me if you want to do something productive about your situations. ... Preferably before the Vampires start feasting on everyone.

[ Terminal had trouble sleeping the night before, and so he is still wearing his make-up. Shortly after the Sentience went down, Terminal feared that something had gone wrong with Lain, however didn't act at the time trusting in her ability to fix any problems. In the morning when there was a lack of a message from Sentience, Terminal checked his communicator and sent a message to Lain & Dr. Eggman. ]

Dr. Eggman, please meet me at Lain's dorm room. I fear something bad may have happened. Lain, if you are there please reply, did something go wrong with out project?

[ With most people distracted by the birthday party, vampire crisis, or being herded around by Sentience; Terminal has been spending the day out in the open. Armed with a notebook and pencil, he has been stalking various bots around the dome and making notes about their movements and routine.

Terminal is attempted to do this without drawing too much attention to himself, finding convenient reasons for him to be around a bot, like getting Pizza for lunch. ]

[ OOC: He does not have a fixed location for this post, so if you want to interact with him, put the location you are interacting with him in the heading please. ]

What the hell-- what kind of sick joke is this? You better run when I find you, Akira.

[cue Kaito pounding and kicking the door with the leg that's not restrained. He is not a happy camper right now.]

YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR SUCKS, PUNK! I'LL KILL Y--

[Stops when he reaches for something and realizes it's missing. Animal-like snarl is a go.]

Give me my fuckin' gun back.

[The video flickers to life, zoomed in to a closeup of the pureblood vampire's narrowed red and blue colored eyes. His mouth is twisted in a small smile, clearly pleased to be able to play with the prison's many inhabitants once again.]

This is exciting, isn't it? What fun this place is~

But what's a game without raising the stakes? I disappear, you follow, and now I bring 'other' pieces into the mix.

[Rido turns, angling the camera down to include a seated figure slumped up against a wall, head bowed, hair disheveled and tangled, eyes shaded from view. The older man kneels down beside his captive, reaching out to brush his fingers through the boy's blond hair.]

What will you do now~?

[Still towel (and presumably swim trunks) clad, lounging on the bottom floor commons of Sector 0, this Nobody looks happy as a clam.]

Slightly prune-y with no obligations and an evening to spend on the strings is a swell way to be.

Just for the record.

Seriously, why would anyone ever even want to leave this place?

[ Terminal has spent a good portion of the day in the library sitting at a desk with a lot of books on the criminal justice system. Sitting next to a pile of about nine books, he leans back in the chair to stretch his back. Terminal sitting there then mutters under his breath ]

This might not be as easy as I thought.

[ Looking over to his communicator which was laying on the table, he decides to make his next move. He picks up the communicator, turns it on, and then begins a announcement. ]

Mr. Justice was it? The lawyer who arrived a few days ago, I was hoping to get your assistance with some legal matters in the Library if you aren’t too terribly busy today.

Good morning, criminals! It is the thirty-sixth day of the third generation today, and it will be exceptionally clear and crisp. The pools are heated, so you are encouraged to continue enjoying them even as the weather chills.

As I am sure most of you have likely noticed, the trial and integration for the Engineers was successful, and they have now joined you here. There is no cause for alarm. I repeat: no cause for alarm. They were brought here under the same circumstances you all have been.

Now that that is out of the way, my processes will in large part be occupied by climatology, so I may not have maximum capacity to chat with you all.

[ After dinner, Terminal went and got cleaned up and out of his costume. He hates being so reliant upon other people since for a long time he was use to people working under him. Regardless, dealing with a state of the art prison with a crazy A.I. system and who knows what else is just a bit beyond his capabilities.

Carter Wilson, in Sector 0, approaches Lain Iwakura's room and knocks on the door. ]

How unexpected! How exciting! You've done such a good job to get interesting results like this.

[and then it sounds -- different, like she's trying on a different voice, attempting to sound more masculine, and giggling again]

[There's a good bit of fumbling before Katou figures out how to work the video camera, and maybe a muffled curse or two. Inept as he generally is, for once it's not entirely his fault. Once the thing finally flickers on, Katou leans in and immediately barges in, loudly.]

Hey! Look, I figured out this was supposed to be some kind of prison or some crap like that but listen, I'm a fucking minor, okay? Juvy's supposed to be where it's at, am I right? Right?

[Katou pauses, distracted look on his face.]

Dunno if I believe the crap about being at the bottom of the ocean but lemme tell you, it doesn't smell like hell around here. Or look like Hades. And if this is heaven then take me back to Hades, me and Doll and Uriel can have ourselves a rave party down there. With strobe lights and strippers. Kira, you aren't invited.

[Of course, he keeps going off the subject, but a furtive glance at the pocket of his jeans makes him remember.] Anyway, listen. I know this is prison and we probably ain't supposed to have 'em, but... anybody here got any... [He mimes taking a drag on a cigarette, and whispers, as though that'll make it any less obvious].... smokes? I'm not picky about the type too bad. Kinda like menthol but... [He waves his hands exaggeratedly] If you do I'll pay you with... I dunno. WE'LL SEE.

[A gravelly voice belonging to a man in his mid-to-late thirties comes in over the network, sounding positively delighted and full of confidence.] O~hohoho! An artificial intelligence named Sentience? Perfect! You already know my name, but it only seems proper to introduce myself! I am Doctor Eggman, the world's greatest scientific genius! I do look forward to getting... acquainted with you.

[Much more subdued, but still trying to sound cordial.] ... But it's a shame to put a doctor to work cleaning toilets, when I'm far better suited for intellectual pursuits. Perhaps you could reconsider?
