[It's quite early in the morning still, and Maya's sound asleep in her bed, her communicator shut off and on the nightstand beside her. She's completely unaware of anything wrong going on as she dreams about being the Lavender Samurai, heroine of justice in Big Underwater Edo, facing down the Evil Ninja Alien Shogun in their final showdown.

"Are you ready to be brainwashed, Lavender Samurai?" the villain cackles at her. "You'll make a great soldier in my Slave Corps!"

"No, because you're going down!" she shouts back, and rushes at him with her Lavender Spear...]

[Little does Maya realize someone's just about to her suite's door back in reality...]

[Russel leaves his seekrit lab where he's working on that project, and is headed toward the kitchen to get himself something to eat. He's reviewing his notes, coded, of course. Only one other person was capable of reading them. Sure, he was dragging his feet on this project. Truth be told, he could have been done in hours. But he had his own conscience to reckon with. Until the engineers were more than just an obnoxious voice, he was going to stall that woman out. He had all the cards. What could she possibly do?]

U-um. [video clicks on, and a small girl with red-rimmed eyes appears, hiccups, and fiddles with the communicator some more.] I..don't really know how to work this...

I'm not really sure what all of those words meant. But I know what “murder” is, and I've never done anything like that.

There's still a lot I don't know about the world outside of Kurain village, but...isn't there supposed to be a trial first? I...know a really good defense lawyer, so...

I want to go home.

Next time someone feels like making people kiss someone else, don't. And if anyone has any idea who's responsible for that piece of shit, let me know so I can punch them in the face.

[Private to Lelouch]

I don't want to make a big deal out of that, but I want to make one thing clear: I won't tell anyone if you don't. And after that, we're even.

Hello. To the woman responsible for those mistletoe robots, please rest assured that I will find you.

((Dahlia is locked up safe and sound in her room, and is not coming out for the remainder of the day.))
[voice | action] KISSING!
22 December 2009 at 06:27 pm
AH HA! [You might hear subtle hints of things exploding in the background—small things! It's really more like popping. Nothing at all to concern yourself with!]

Now that the prototype is done, I'd like to—what was that phrasing again? Ah yes!—wish you all a Merry Christmas. My gifts for everyone should be making their way around.

((OOC: See this post for details on the randomized kissing couples and how Mistletoe-kun operates. Feel free to comment here directly to Anissina or to play out your random kissing—just make it clear in the subject please!))
[The 42nd Day]
21 December 2009 at 04:52 pm
...Good morning, criminals! I believe that the ash hasn't quite been cleaned up off the outdoors environment yet, but today's snowfall should disguise that sufficiently until I have time to administer to it. Expect toasty warm temperatures indoors shortly, and more than two feet of snow outdoors by mid-afternoon! But even indoors you can enjoy the holiday spirit -- mistletoe has been hung at various places around the dome, and you are encouraged to engage in a seasonal kiss if you encounter anyone under it~ But not more than that, mind.

I apologize to those of you who have been inconvenienced by the food shortage recently. I cannot imagine why shipments have encountered such difficulty... but there will be more than enough food and sustenance to celebrate the holidays in as lavish a manner as you desire.

Merry Christmas, to those of you who celebrate it, and to those of you who do not -- enjoy the food and the atmosphere!

Mr. Tringham, are you there? Now that it looks like everything will be okay, I had a quick question, if you don't mind.
Layer 7: Reset [Audio]
13 December 2009 at 09:48 pm
[There's a soft but grating white noise of electronic feedback, not quite static and not quite the shrill whine of interference.

It slinks in under whatever other conversations you're holding, persistant through the night even when headsets are left on bedside tables.

It continues, until it gradually takes on the rhythm of breathing.

And then, gradually, just as your ears accustom to the background noise, it becomes a thin female voice, faint and frantic, a haunted whisper over the network.]

[Just to note: Russel and Fletcher have used their alchemy and plant skillz to induce phosphorescence in any and all wooden surfaces in the shelter, and in all of the trees they could get to outside.]

It's so nice to have a little light again. Even if it's somewhat unnerving, it's much better than just those horrid emergency lights.

Why did Mr. Sentience leave? Was he finally so fed up with our complaining that he abandoned us?

[The communicator clatters to the floor and turns on in a burst of sound, and then Deire's voice, murmuring dazedly]

No, Rian... Bread, I just want... bread... [breathless] Mama's not thirsty...

Oh-- Oh gods, where--

He-Hello? Is this thing on? My name is Dr. Spencer Reid, I'm with the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. I think we may be experiencing some kind of misunderstanding. Almost all of the charges held against me are, technically, crimes, yes. But all of them were acts done in the line of duty, in the pursuit of very dangerous criminals, or done to protect innocent people, or other law enforcement personnel. Others are so vague that the timing of their commission is very nonspecific. If the Internal Affairs division of the FBI has no cause to investigate me for any wrongdoing, then I have trouble understanding why I'm here.

Further, I wasn't aware that the ball and chain method of inmate restraint was still in use by correctional facilities. And, ah, don't I get a phone call?

[The 36th Day]
09 November 2009 at 10:51 am
Good morning, criminals! It is the thirty-sixth day of the third generation today, and it will be exceptionally clear and crisp. The pools are heated, so you are encouraged to continue enjoying them even as the weather chills.

As I am sure most of you have likely noticed, the trial and integration for the Engineers was successful, and they have now joined you here. There is no cause for alarm. I repeat: no cause for alarm. They were brought here under the same circumstances you all have been.

Now that that is out of the way, my processes will in large part be occupied by climatology, so I may not have maximum capacity to chat with you all.

[Dahlia waits in her room for Yuuri to arrive. She honestly doesn't think she's in danger... unless that vampire could get past a locked door. And Yuuri might do something stupid; he seemed like the foolish heroic type. He was useful for her once before, he might be again in the future.

Once she hears a knock on the door, she goes to look through the peephole, then quickly unlocks the door and opens it.]

[some of you may recognize Deire's voice, but even if you would, it sounds a little off as she giggles. admiringly]

How unexpected! How exciting! You've done such a good job to get interesting results like this.

[and then it sounds -- different, like she's trying on a different voice, attempting to sound more masculine, and giggling again]

Looks like I've lost the bet. But this could be fun too~

[and then, a third voice, lower]

I wonder what you'll all do next...

Not even an hour after he has already arrived. If it is not already clear this man is someone to avoid at all costs. The tragedy that happened today is already gruesome and terrible enough as it is. Under no circumstances should any one approach him, unless you, too, wish to meet the same horrible fate as that young man. Please...please don't let him to have suffered. That boy...I'm so sorry. Another life lost because of that disgusting monster--!

His name is Rido Kuran, a pureblooded vampire of over three thousand years old and should already be dead. Apparently even the restraints weren't enough Just stay in doors and don't attempt to approach him while the problem is taken care of.

[Zelda opens her eyes and moans softly. She is lying on the ground, sprawled on her side. Around her, tall shelves full of books rise up from the floor. She is in the library, and her back is to the windows where the view of the ocean would tell her she is underwater, if she cares to notice.

But for now, her attention is on the strange device attached to her head.]

L…L…Link? Link? Navi? [She fingers the device. It has a screen that covers one of her eyes. There are words written on it…words that don’t make sense. Why is she accused of these crimes? What about Ganondorf?

Ganondorf! Of course! He has taken her prisoner! This list is probably some type of joke from him. Ignoring it for now, Zelda removes the device from her head. After a short inspection, she reasons it must be a Lens of Truth, a magical device able to show her secrets of the visible world that cannot be perceived by the naked eye. There are strange buttons on it too. She begins pushing some absently as she secures the object back on her ear, not really realizing that it allows her voice to broadcast over the network. As she does so, she calls out to Ganondorf.]

Ganondorf! I know you are responsible for this! Show yourself immediately! Mark my words – when Link comes to find me, you will pay for your evil deeds!

((feel free to run into her at the library if you wish))
