[The shelter is clearly equipped for a celebration to mark the changing of wardens. Everything is neat and tidy, with decorations and a generous food spread laid over the tables for the taking. There’s also the usual entertainment in the common areas – TVs, video games, movies. Maybe you can talk someone into an impromptu karaoke party. Why not? Sentience doesn’t mind.

[You wake up suddenly, and you're not where you were. But looking around, you find you're in... your own room. Your own bed. It's dark and quiet, late at night, and any friends and roommates you might have are there with you, still sleeping, or just waking up.]

[ a certain someone can be found kneeling in a Marina garden. he's wearing plain clothes today, not his habitual Order uniform, and working his hands in the dirt. his expression is distant, his blue eyes unfocused, and his gardening a little bit inattentive.

he just wants the feel of soil on his hands: the clean, slightly damp sensation of working at a long-time hobby, one his muscles know as well or better than his brain. it's nice not to have to think.

[ Around noon, the robots that had been swarming the beach scatter, leaving a transformed landscape in their wakes. There are volleyball nets set up in the sand, along with colorful umbrellas and blankets beneath them. Part of the water has been sectioned off for water polo, while inflatable rafts in fanciful shapes are ready for use in the open area.

Ringing the beach are food stands serving street and festival foods: chin chin, takoyaki and taiyaki, aloo tikki, sabikh, empanada, hot dogs, ice cream and shaved ice, and suchlike. There is one stand where a robot serves an alcoholic punch not completely unlike sangria. Several of the other stands also serve non-alcoholic drinks. Clean up robots zoom from place to place, picking up garbage. ]

Good morning, inmates. It is the 121st day of the third generation. Today will be hot and sunny, and cooling off in the evening.

According to a crossdimensional matrix of Earths today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the traditional beginning of summer. This morning, the beach will be closed to set up for the celebration of the Solstice. Please do not disrupt the facility robots or divert them from their tasks. Inmates who do so will be prohibited from the festivities.

This afternoon, please enjoy the number of activities set out on the beach, as well as food stands incorporating festival foods from various Earth countries. For those who are of age and choose to partake, there will be one stand serving alcoholic beverages. Please do not attempt to bring your own alcohol to the beach. Any attempt to tamper with or remove the alcohol from the beach is prohibited.

In the evening, this system will be providing fireflies throughout the dome for relaxation and reflection. As a forewarning, they will be impossible to injure or kill.
