DAY 347 : Haunted Hotel Mingle

[You have a lot of baggage for your stay. Not the kind you stuff free robes and toiletries into. No, the kind of baggage that helps drive the sort of scenarios you experience. Your fears and your hang ups. Or maybe not everything is about you after all and you have a perfectly random, horrific time. Either way, the adventure starts now. Ring the bell for service.]

Friends? You mean like friends from home?

[He looked a little confused, but that was what she meant, right?]

From the labyrinth. I don't have friends from home.

Oh.

[That was... kind of sad, in a way... and he didn't know how to approach the deeper meaning to that statement, so he let it slide.]

Well, maybe we can find them. If they live in the labyrinth, they might be able to help us get out again, right?

[If this was like the one she knew, but he kind of left that unsaid for now.]

[Perhaps it is sad, but Sarah honestly has become used to the fact. Having friends here is weird, and it's taking her more time than she'd like to get used to it.]

I think so. If we can just find something familiar... let's go this way.

[Of course, they'll never find anything Sarah recognizes because this is not her Goblin labyrinth.]

Alright.

[After a while, Duo started to get a little suspicious that this wasn't the place she was thinking it was after all.]

So, uh... see anything, yet?

[They'd been wandering for a while now.]

[Sarah had just been thinking that absolutely NOTHING looked familiar. Granted, the Labyrinth was a big place, so it could be that she hadn't stumbled across a familiar area yet, but she was starting to feel very defeated. Her general air of brightness was harder to maintain. So when Duo asked exactly what she was thinking, she huffed irritably.]

No. It's a big place. Maybe we haven't found the right spot yet?

[But it's clear from her voice she doesn't believe that for a second.]

Maybe.

[He frowned a bit.]

We could also just look for a different route, too, right? I mean, there's gotta be more than one if it's that big.

Well yeah... but I'd figure we'd find something... either familiar or new. The maze had changed by now last time. This is... all very much the same.

...

I don't... I don't think it's the same one.

Well, that doesn't mean it's not escapable. We just hafta figure out a different way, maybe.

Like... secret door?

[He started poking at bricks.]

[She purses her lips but nods. It seems more likely this is some sort of trick from wardens, and it seems if they just wait it out, it'll go away. But Sarah doesn't know how long that'll take, and these things can be dangerous.]

I'll check this side then.

[Tap, tap, tap. And perhaps looking carefully for any worms who might have some words of wisdom...]

[Duo didn't know about worms, but he was looking for loose bricks. He found a few, but moving them around with pushing, pulling, turning... nothing seemed to be working, yet.

In fact, things were looking a little bleak.

That was, until he pushed one in, and he heard something click.]

Oh, hey... that must have opened somethi- IIIIIIIING!!

[It opened something, for sure, because a trap door opened beneath them just before he finished talking! Down he went!]

Oh nooooooooo!

[Sarah's reaching for the sides... roots, hands, anything that can save them.

...

Luckily the ground isn't too far away. She lands with an oof and takes stock of the situation.]

You okay? Anything broken? Or bleeding?

Oof... [He grumbled and grunted as he moved around, having landed pretty hard in the short fall.] Don't think so. [He managed to get to his feet with a few grunts and groans. He was going to feel that tomorrow.]

Where do you think we are? [He dusted himself off and started looking around.]

[Sarah shrugged.]

Not the Goblin King's labyrinth. Maybe we've been stuck in the same room forever and there's... like a projection or something? I don't know... this whole place is so weird. I'd rather be back in the dome.

It's a pretty awesome projector, if that's the case. [He checked the walls again, carefully this time. He didn't want to fall through another trap door like that.]

Are you okay? Not hurt or anything from that fall, right?

[Sarah rolled her ankles and wrists experimentally.]

Nope. I expected there to be helping hands. Silly right? If we're not there anymore.

[She giggled.]

I'm sorry. I don't know what's happening. This isn't funny. We're trapped.

Helping hands?

[He looked confused at her giggle, but then shook his head.]

Nah, it's okay. I can appreciate humor.

What are helping hands?

They're these hands [giggle] that grow out of the side of the wall and when you're falling [snort] and yell help? They catch you. And they all band together to make faces to talk. [laugh...]

Then they threw me in the oubliette and that wasn't so much fun.

An oubliette?

[Yup, he was definitely lost now.]

This labyrinth of yours sounds like a pretty crazy place.

[But he was smiling, too, so it was all good.]

Where they put you to forget. It was. But when I get back, I'm confident I'll beat him at his own game.

I just wish I knew how to beat this one too.

Him? So someone put you in that labyrinth?

Jareth. The Goblin King. I have to beat him to get my brother back. [She half-heartedly poked around as well...]

((OOC: Im thinking at this point, either the hotel changes things on them, or they just explore this labyrinth until the hotel disappears or they fall asleep. Either way, I'm not sure what my original thought with the Labyrinth was)

{OOC: Sounds good to me!}

[That took Duo by surprise. He turned around, intending to ask Sarah why someone would take her brother, but the area had this inky blackness to it. It was hard to see. He reached out, only to touch another wall.]

Sarah?

[But nothing responded to him... they were separated again.]
