[As much as he would like to ask what she doesn't want to be reminded of, Chekov has learned that there are things that should not be asked of new acquaintances. He settles for nodding in acknowledgment.

There are other things to focus on, anyway. He slows, listening very hard. There's something beneath the ambient screams and groans. Running water, maybe?]

I would prefer that you come with me. Two pairs of eyes are more likely to see a way out than one. [He doesn't really think that they'll find a way out, though. That isn't how the wardens play. Still, it's far less patronizing than telling her that he'd like an opportunity to play hero and protect someone.]

[Chekov waves her down the hall and to a staircase. Wherever it goes shouldn't be any worse than where they are now. It will be a change of scenery, at the very least.]
