Day 221 — Morning mingle : Main shelter
[Wake up and smell the lack of coffee. You're on a bunk bed. Maybe you're a top and maybe you're a bottom. There are five other people in your room. Maybe they're friends or enemies or faces you barely recognize if at all. It doesn't matter much. You can leave this room and you don't need to come back to it.

You should get your rations though. You're probably hungry. You're definitely a little sluggish of body. What happened to that bruise you got sparing yesterday? What happened to your newly dyed hair? Mystery, mystery... Move along. Find the public bathrooms and do your business with a hundred of your closest friends.

Find the kiosk and get your rations. Careful not to let anyone steal them. You won't get more until tomorrow and the bots won't care. They aren't here to hold your hand. If you get sick or hurt and they deem it necessary they will take you to the hospital whether you wish it or not. But why dwell on such things? You're here now and you might as well enjoy it. You even get a free day today.]

Sadly not. I'm a blood-giving virgin. At least when it comes to this kind. I've done the Red Cross thing... well, it doesn't matter.

I admit I'm a little weirded out, but if I were in your position I'd want help, so. Yeah. Let's do this. If we just run by a room on the way to the kitchen I'll tear up some pillow cases for bandages or something.

[Hopefully no one will get upset about this. She's not sure it's the best idea ever, but what is the alternative, let the guy be basically tortured?]

Man, am I all kinds of for that plan. I don't want to get any of my friends all up on arms, thinking this was something coerced or anything but helping a buddy out. [Which, yes, they may have a teeny right to be upset, but the situation is what it is.]

[And she did give her word, so off to the kitchen.] It's really awkward trying to think of a place to... cut. Where it won't be obvious. Elbow, maybe, if it's good enough for the donor team it's gotta be good enough for us.

By that description, the other one must be Rebecca. Unsurprisingly, she and I are buds. [One of the people she trusts most here, in fact.] We should all hang sometime. I bet we'd have a blast.

[But in the meantime, she's found a knife and a glass and is rolling up a sleeve and now it's... down to business. A large swallow as she places the knife on her forearm, scoring the skin (hesitation mark her way-too-vivid job training tells her, and it's so apt) but then she just grits her teeth and -- cuts. Straight across, an inch below the elbow, and it produces way more immediate bleeding than she'd thought.]

[It's not as painful as she thought it would be, however. Probably because she's a little woozy. And it is a bit messy, since she wasn't perfectly aimed over the glass. And sure is dizzying watching yourself bleed so she'll just... watch the ceiling and keep her arm on the rim of the glass.] Tell me when it's okay. And keep the comments to yourself, I'm new at this.

That's the one, yeah. Shouldn't surprise me, you lot hanging out together. [ And although he doesn't say anything, the thought of spending some time drinking with these ladies once they're out of this sewer pit is a pretty damn pleasant one.

He watches closely as she hesitates, the demon stirring in his chest at the first few drops, the rivet, the deep red and damn if he isn't transfixed, would be in full-on vamp face if he could, lips parted and wetted by a tongue that hasn't tasted blood fresh from the source since Claire left when it used to be almost every night. There's a delay in responding. At first he doesn't even realize she said anything and when he does, the answer goes against every fiber of his being. ]

That's fine. [ — no, it isn't fine and he would love for nothing more than to sink his fangs deep into her neck and suck her dry — ] Don't want you to be unwell, do we?

Hacker vegetarians with fashion hobbies gotta stick together. [It's something of a weak response since she's trying not to pass out here, but hey. She tries.]

[When he says that's enough she fumbles with a bandage and tries to quickly get the flow stopped, but of course it takes a few seconds so have an extra few blips, bropire. Garcia steps aside from the counter which now looks like a grizzly murder scene so he can get at the glass and she can tie off this wound.] Dinner is served.

[ He could show some concern here, but he doesn't. Maybe later, once he's savored this unexpected gift of hers but right now the demon won't even allow him to think about it. Instead he takes the glass, eager to drink it while it's still close to warm, fingers damn near trembling as he fills his nose with the scent of sweet, fresh blood.

He drinks it in long, slow draws. Pacing himself is impossible but he can at least enjoy it for as long as it lasts, tongue darting out to lick at his lips. Not a drop missed. ]

[Her cut bandaged (so to speak) and covered, she hunts around for a rag to collect what didn't make the cup.] And... well. I'm not about to volunteer to be mummified, but my conscience won't let you walk around half starved, so...

You know, if you need to do this again sometime. [Is this monumentally stupid? Possibly. But she considers Spike a friend now, and she does monumentally stupid things when her friends need help.]

Well, you have a point, and I don't think I'd offer myself to anyone who happened along. I may not be immortal or have super-awesome powers but I do like to think I have a good heart and therefore I'm not going to just let a friend suffer. If you were trying to butter me up and talk me into it and using me for your evil bidding that'd be one thing, but as far as I can see you've given me every chance to say no, even after I said yes. And in my book that counts for a lot.

So as long as you're not going nutso and trying to use me as a sacrifice for some big bad demon revival -- and I'm so not a virgin, if that matters -- I think I'll be good helping you out now and then.
