Day 221 — Morning mingle : Main shelter
[Wake up and smell the lack of coffee. You're on a bunk bed. Maybe you're a top and maybe you're a bottom. There are five other people in your room. Maybe they're friends or enemies or faces you barely recognize if at all. It doesn't matter much. You can leave this room and you don't need to come back to it.

You should get your rations though. You're probably hungry. You're definitely a little sluggish of body. What happened to that bruise you got sparing yesterday? What happened to your newly dyed hair? Mystery, mystery... Move along. Find the public bathrooms and do your business with a hundred of your closest friends.

Find the kiosk and get your rations. Careful not to let anyone steal them. You won't get more until tomorrow and the bots won't care. They aren't here to hold your hand. If you get sick or hurt and they deem it necessary they will take you to the hospital whether you wish it or not. But why dwell on such things? You're here now and you might as well enjoy it. You even get a free day today.]

[She gives him a sidelong glance, because yeah that was a not-great thing to say, but at least he realizes it was a faux-pas before she had a chance to get utterly disturbed.] Nice save.

I guess it must be weird, having to negotiate with your food before you can eat it.

[She starts wrapping one of her long strips of cloth around her bicep, because that's what they do before drawing blood. She's winging it totally.]

Unlike some vampires around here, we usually don't say please and thank you before dinner. Kind of like you people and cows, I guess.

[ Casually watching her work and wishing he had a smoke. In part he doesn't help because he thinks she'll be more comfortable doing it on her own, but there's also the matter of the chip. Let's not risk it. ]

Don't get me wrong, I like people. You make the world a whole lot better. [ Entertainment, food... and perhaps he's retained more humanity than he cares to admit. ]

By that description, the other one must be Rebecca. Unsurprisingly, she and I are buds. [One of the people she trusts most here, in fact.] We should all hang sometime. I bet we'd have a blast.

[But in the meantime, she's found a knife and a glass and is rolling up a sleeve and now it's... down to business. A large swallow as she places the knife on her forearm, scoring the skin (hesitation mark her way-too-vivid job training tells her, and it's so apt) but then she just grits her teeth and -- cuts. Straight across, an inch below the elbow, and it produces way more immediate bleeding than she'd thought.]

[It's not as painful as she thought it would be, however. Probably because she's a little woozy. And it is a bit messy, since she wasn't perfectly aimed over the glass. And sure is dizzying watching yourself bleed so she'll just... watch the ceiling and keep her arm on the rim of the glass.] Tell me when it's okay. And keep the comments to yourself, I'm new at this.

That's the one, yeah. Shouldn't surprise me, you lot hanging out together. [ And although he doesn't say anything, the thought of spending some time drinking with these ladies once they're out of this sewer pit is a pretty damn pleasant one.

He watches closely as she hesitates, the demon stirring in his chest at the first few drops, the rivet, the deep red and damn if he isn't transfixed, would be in full-on vamp face if he could, lips parted and wetted by a tongue that hasn't tasted blood fresh from the source since Claire left when it used to be almost every night. There's a delay in responding. At first he doesn't even realize she said anything and when he does, the answer goes against every fiber of his being. ]

That's fine. [ — no, it isn't fine and he would love for nothing more than to sink his fangs deep into her neck and suck her dry — ] Don't want you to be unwell, do we?

Hacker vegetarians with fashion hobbies gotta stick together. [It's something of a weak response since she's trying not to pass out here, but hey. She tries.]

[When he says that's enough she fumbles with a bandage and tries to quickly get the flow stopped, but of course it takes a few seconds so have an extra few blips, bropire. Garcia steps aside from the counter which now looks like a grizzly murder scene so he can get at the glass and she can tie off this wound.] Dinner is served.

[ He could show some concern here, but he doesn't. Maybe later, once he's savored this unexpected gift of hers but right now the demon won't even allow him to think about it. Instead he takes the glass, eager to drink it while it's still close to warm, fingers damn near trembling as he fills his nose with the scent of sweet, fresh blood.

He drinks it in long, slow draws. Pacing himself is impossible but he can at least enjoy it for as long as it lasts, tongue darting out to lick at his lips. Not a drop missed. ]

You know, if you need to do this again sometime. [Is this monumentally stupid? Possibly. But she considers Spike a friend now, and she does monumentally stupid things when her friends need help.]

Well, you have a point, and I don't think I'd offer myself to anyone who happened along. I may not be immortal or have super-awesome powers but I do like to think I have a good heart and therefore I'm not going to just let a friend suffer. If you were trying to butter me up and talk me into it and using me for your evil bidding that'd be one thing, but as far as I can see you've given me every chance to say no, even after I said yes. And in my book that counts for a lot.

So as long as you're not going nutso and trying to use me as a sacrifice for some big bad demon revival -- and I'm so not a virgin, if that matters -- I think I'll be good helping you out now and then.

[ The sad thing is, if it wasn't for the blasted chip in his skull he certainly would drain her dry. There wouldn't be enough time to make friends and she never would've registered as anything but dinner — in a way, that chip is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, forcing him to be a better man. Human.

Still, that's not something he's about to divulge. Especially not now when he's already getting exactly what he wants. ]

My virgin-sacrificin' days are over, pet. No worries there. [ That brings back memories though... Bavaria and Machida. Good times and by good he means pretty terrible, actually. ] I'd be careful if I were you, though... some people aren't quite as tactful as I am.

[Mixed feelings abound since he's calling her favorite man an idiot, but he's also complimenting her so... net positive.] There was one guy I was with for a while, but he was more... like me. [You know, a geek. ~~In fact, Spike knows EXACTLY the type of guy, right down to his Xander-y face.~~] Before that, the hot guy who took me out only pretended to be into me so he could try and kill me. Didn't do wonders for my confidence.

Sunnydale? Can't say I have, but it sounds like a typical Cali suburb if I were to guess by the name alone.

I've pulled that trick a few times... always followed up on it, though. It'd be cruel, leavin' survivors. [ This is his odd way of agreeing. Believe it or not, he was bullied pretty harshly before his turning. ] And there's nothin' typical about Sunnydale... maybe at first glance, but it's a real hot spot for demon activity. Built on top of the Hellmouth, so I guess that's only expected.

[Whoa, holy bundle of incredibly mixed feelings, Batman. Garcia clearly does not approve of killing people, let alone using their vulnerability to lure them, but Spike... well. he's never hidden what he is. And like Tyki, she can't manage to think of him as a totally bad guy in spite of it. There's a sort of honorable nature about how Spike does what he does, the honestly he has about it.]

[She doesn't quite take the admission in stride, but a few seconds of sipping at her drink and she decides to get over it.]

I know a few people who wouldn't be too shocked to learn that the gates of hell are located in California. Personally, I'd have guessed somewhere along the Jersey Turnpike...
