[ X hadn't been expecting the attack to be so fierce, nor had he been expecting it to be so sudden. And he couldn't help but kick himself for that as he watched the Serpent forces push their way into the city, leaving death in their wake. It was the first time he'd actually seen them, the first time he'd witnessed their destructive force first-hand. And he couldn't help but think that they would've probably made the mavericks in his world proud, with their ferocity and lust for destruction...
However, "proud" was the last word X would've used to describe how he felt about the Serpent. A more fitting word would've been "disgusted", maybe even "appalled". But how he felt was irrelevant, because the only thing that mattered right now was action.
So as he turned on the feed, the first thing that was heard was a barrage of gunfire. The sounds of ballistic projectiles and plasma weaponry all but drowning out the feed as the Serpent approached Hunter Base. The building was lined with exterior plasma defenses, which were all thankfully in working order and doing a good job at holding the Serpent at bay. But it was X doing the bulk of the work, putting his Buster to use in an attempt to incapacitate any oncoming Serpent forces. ]
This is-- [ X cut himself off there with a charge shot, nailing a few of the Serpent forces and trying very hard to not think about the possibility of having actually killed them. ] --This is Mega Man X, transmitting on all open frequencies! For the sake of keeping things short, I've made Hunter Base into a safe house for anyone who needs it. There are defenses all around the building, and I'm personally keeping the perimeter secure. So if you need a safe place to stay in, just--
[ More gunfire started up then, causing X to stop and duck. However, with a loud cry of "Crystal Wall!", the gunfire stopped. Or at least, was muted. It seemed that X had generated a crystalline pillar in front of him to act as a shield, and it was working pretty well. ]
