When: Prior to the Beast tearing up the West Wing.

( The young man’s mind had been filled with music, his memory alive not with symbols in ink but with notes and the worship of the people around him. He was sure of his superiority not because of his birth, but because he was sure that the ability to skin his own kills and earn his own bread made him better than the people who had the wealth and status to waste time in candlelight with scraps of paper. )
