Work had been yet another day of irritations and frustrations, which is all it seemed to be lately. He couldn't leave the position, not without going against the wishes of others, and at the same time, Marcus chafed against the restraints he'd been placed under. His skin itched. Again. He'd spent most of the day riding a desk, researching shite for others, and finally getting time in an interrogation room where Cap had expected him to pretend to be the good bloke. Shite wasn't even making sense anymore.

After dinner, he'd tried to spend time with Isolde in the solarium, but after a bit he'd excused himself to go down to the workout room. He left his shoes and shirt off to one side, changing into comfortable trackies before taking out his irritations on the punching bag. The world narrowed down to the feel of muscles under his skin, the thud of his hand into the heavy bag, the bruises that would be left and healed quickly. It focused him, working out like this, and he could let everything else go, at least for a time.

Draco hadn't told Mandy exactly what he had planned, only that he and Aidan had something that they wanted her to see. The two girls were playing in the yard nearby, completely involved in a game with the cat. Aidan ran ahead towards the shed, pulling the door open excitedly while Draco kept Mandy going until they'd reached a point where Aidan would have plenty of space but they could still see the girls.

Draco slipped one arm about Mandy's waist, hand falling against her hip as he tugged her closer. His free hand drifted briefly over her belly, then came up to cup her cheek as he kissed her. "Ready?" he murmured as he heard Aidan calling Mommy!.

At five minutes til noon, she poked her head into his workroom, grinning. "You ready to get out for a bit of lunch? I've got paperwork, but I'm feeding you brill food, so I promise it's worth it to sit through my ideas."

Luag had been tense all day which hadn't been an oddity at work. Everyone was tense. You could almost taste it in the air. As if what the Ministry had been doing hadn't bee enough, there were Death Eaters running about now. While they never graced the isles much, that didn't stop people worrying about a visit or about their family and friends on the mainland.

Friends like Mandy. He knew he should be more sympathetic to Malfoy, he understood how that sort of loss felt, but Mandy being hurt drowned that out. Especially since it was Malfoy being who he was that had brought that danger to her. That plus all the other things circling around in his head made it hard to sit still. So when he went home, he avoided the house and walked the grounds, figuring it was worth checking the wards again before he had to go pick Cody up from the school. The wards were old and strong, but he needed to ease his mind about it.
