Who: Ernie MacMillan & Zacharias Smith
What: Ernie is worried about his friend.
When: Thursday afternoon
Where: Zach's place.

Having been on the wrong end of the Ministry, Ernie had a pretty good idea what sight he'd be greeted with when he arrived at Zacharias' place. Though the pair could butt heads occasionally, Ernie always thought they were similar in many ways and if that was the case, he hated thinking Zacharias felt the same shame, hurt, and anger he had when branded. However, just like Justin, Eva, Terry, Draco and even Michael had been there for Ernie, the grown Hufflepuff would be there for his long-time mate. As far as Ernie was concerned, they were family. After all, they had shared a room for how many years?

He had a bag filled with food courtesy his mother and several weeks worth of books and puzzles when he arrived through the floo.

The branding had hurt, but it wasn't pain that was keeping Ernie chained to his flat. He had never trusted easily to begin with, but knowing words spoken in confidence had been used against him really bothered the young man. Besides, where he was going to go anyway? There was no way he could go back to the Ministry and face the same people who had looked him in the eyes and accused him of betrayal. Well, to hell with them anyway. Ernie was proud of the wizarding world, but he didn't fight a bloody war to have freedom revoked for no damn good reason. When he heard himself cursing in his head, he felt even angrier. Now the lousy gits had him using expletives!

Needless to say, Ernie wasn't doing well. He had barely eaten since returning from that awful night and, if it didn't involve a little girl, Ernie never would have agreed to meet Draco that week either. However, that wasn't until another day so Ernie could keep wallowing if he liked, right? Hence, when he heard the knock, he groaned. With his luck, it would be his mother who always managed to know when her little boy needed her even when he didn't ask. "Who is it?" He called. Granted, it was uncharacteristically rude, but Ernie didn't much care then.
