The Natural History Museum was the scene of a whole lot of the Capital's galas. It was real huge and impressive, and folks wanting money tended to like asking for it in places that were real huge and impressive. This here gala, it was to benefit a society dedicated to taking folks with abilities off the street. Everyone knew that prison in the Capital was full to bursting, and someone had to go and raise money for a second one. These folks, Burden didn't mind taking them for every last cent. In fact, he felt real good about emptying pockets here, and he had some specific targets planned for the evening: Mrs. Anderson, who was wearing herself one of the most perfect diamond necklaces ever made. Mr. Coltan, who was said to always carry the key to his vault in the city in his pocket. And Miss Valentine, who had truly been born as Miss Anne Jackson, and who wore an antique bracelet worth millions. Now, Burden, he wasn't real adept at knowing the value of things, but Father Amos had let him know what to grab and who to grab it from, and that there was something Burden was real adept at.

He was dressed in basic black, seeing as drawing attention wasn't the point of the evening. And just now, he was holding a champagne flute aloft as he listened to Mr. Coltan brag about his conquest of one Mr, Anders. He wore a mildly interested smile on his face, did Burden. He was a lazyish slouch, the kind of thing a refined and bored youth might manage picture-perfect, and Mr. Coltan went on with his tale. Mr. Anders, he was real fond of latex, or so it would seem. Burden, he'd already nicked the key for copying and was currently excusing himself to use the bathroom, and then he would be keen to put the original back into Mr. Colton's pocket. Doing so, returning the key, was going to take the same brand of finesse as borrowing it in the first place, but Burden would worry about that once the copy was made.
