[info]steadfastness in [info]repose

log: eddie/steph -- carnival.

[After this]

[Stephanie had fatigue in her eyes. The event (party, mindfuck, whatever you wanted to call it) wrapped up as the sun just began to peek over the horizon, and she hadn't gotten much sleep after that. It wasn't for any particularly bad reason -- nothing bad at all had happened, which was the first time in a long, long time she could say that about one of these weird things. No, she was just weight down by thoughts. Thoughts about life and about the people around her. So she tossed and turned all night, creating a deep purple underneath her eyes. But, when she sat down to consider it, she decided not to let things bother her for the moment. Taking risks, right? That was what she and Eddie spoke about that night, with techno pulsing in their ears and numbers swirling around them. And before that, too. Why was she so goddamn stressed about it? (Well, she knew why, of course. She always knew why.) Stephanie told herself to buck the fuck up and act like an adult. She was in a better place in her life. Happy. Healthier, in spite of the Elsa thing going on and the swath of time still missing from her brain. She wasn't stuck in a dark pit of depression and self-loathing anymore. She, Stephanie Crystal Miller, had found herself again, and she wasn't going to let a little stress or self-doubt taint that.

So, when the opportunity to see Eddie face-to-face arose, she seized it. No more of the hiding behind the journals, away in their respective cabins. They lived on the same grounds for fuck's sake. No more tiptoeing around. They wanted to take risks? She needed to stop being a chicken. Eddie was getting swallowed alive by his demons, and Stephanie wanted to be there to help him in whatever capacity she could.

With cookies in hand (she baked as she thought) and two coffees (both cold -- unwillingly, of course), she headed over to the costuming tent in the center of the carnival. The nerves started to lick a little at her feet again. She wanted to be that ray of light that everyone was saying she was once again. She wanted to bring together what few people she knew from back home. She wanted to be good.

She would be good.]

Hey. [She said when she saw him surrounded by girls, and she tried not to smirk.] I feel like this is one of your weird fantasies come to life, Eddie. [Though she ran cold nowadays, what with the whole ice powers, it was still hot enough for her to be in shorts and a tank. She held out the coffee for him to take.] How I remember you like it. But it's cold. Sorry. [She wiggled her fingers after he took the drink, apologetic smile quirking up her lip.

Should I start with small talk about the party?
