Repose

[The commune has rules, posted or otherwise, and any john learns them quick if he wants to come back. One of them learns the rule against serving the over-served the hard way: after having one or two or--seven--at the strip joint around the corner, the drunk john is stopped in his stumbling tracks by the scary woman with the tattoos, down at the gatehouse. The raised voices that follow are routine, but it dissolves into shouting and swearing and shoving and then--things get quickly out of hand, as most brawls do. It ends when the muscle punches the john's nose in, and a bystander has to drag the big guy clear before she does the same to his ribs. Details are unclear: he swings first, in her defense. But she's supposed to escort trouble off the premises, not escalate it. He's drunk, yeah, but everyone 'round those parts knows she's no paragon of sobriety herself. Even on shift.

The guy checks in with the nearby hospital, once sober, to treat the nose. No report gets filed. He insists on listing stairs as the culprit. Because it's Hookerville, right?]
