Since her plant had died, all the belongings Leslie had gathered since arriving in Los Angeles fit neatly into a duffel bag that was slung over one shoulder. It was hot out, so the light jacket she normally wore was tied neatly around her waist. She sat on the steps to the shelter, smiling innocently at those who passed by, though hardly anyone returned the gesture. Everyone had gotten so...angry, so down, since the sun had been blotted out. And while Leslie liked darkness, she didn't like this much darkness.

This...this was unnatural.
