The first thing Kitty saw when she opened her eyes that morning was her phone vibrating on the nightstand beside her bed. It wasn't even five-thirty and Warren was awake, sending her a text. "Be at this address by 1. Dress for an interview." Well that snapped her awake. She quickly sat up and texted him back, demanding a few more answers, but all he would give her was a smiley face in return. She loved Warren like the older brother she'd never had and always wanted, but sometimes he could be downright infuriating. What kind of message was that? And why send it so early? Now she'd be thinking about it through her morning classes and lunch.

It wasn't exactly hot out, but Kitty was enjoying the warming trend in the weather and decided to take advantage of it as much as she could. Classes and other distractions had been keeping her busy for so long that it was a startling realization for Kitty when she figured out her last trip to the stables had been before the attack. There were plenty of other people who went down there every day as part of their routine so it wasn't as if the horses were being ignored or had been abandoned. But it had once been part of Kitty's routine as well. Being out of commission for so long after the attack not only kept her from dancing for awhile, but it took away her morning run and her desire to walk across campus. ( This needed to change now. )

It came as no surprise to Kitty when she found herself lacking in the sleep department in the days following Theresa's return to Ireland. The girls had shared a room for so long that she'd gotten used to having a roommate again. Not having someone right there to talk to or just chill and watch something silly on tv before sleep took over was lonely. It was one of those things that made her realize the old adage about not appreciating what you had until it was gone was true. At least in this case. She kept waking up and realized it was the lack of noise that was doing it. Terry always had a fan on, or the computer at least. And she was a soft snorer. She was going to have to get used to sleeping in quiet once again.

Her class that morning was more personal work with Kitty walking around and offering help when it was needed. One student was missing, and while it wouldn't have been a matter of concern in a normal school, a missing student at Xavier's meant they needed to be checked on. ( Especially when that missing student was one Lorna Dane )

It had been quite awhile since Warren had been at the mansion. He'd been there briefly on New Year's for Kitty's party but his stay was not a long one. Most of his time had been spent with Jean-Paul simply because he needed another guy to talk to for awhile. Warren had a lot of people in his life, almost all of them he was very well acquainted with on a professional level. Anyone outside of that expansive relationship level was almost always female and that night Warren had been tired of females. It was good to have a conversation with JP without having to worry too much about anything. ( There had been the quip about flirting, but it was just fun between friends )

Kitty couldn't stop watching the footage on the news of the fire in downtown Westchester. It had been playing on different channels since the morning news, and each station had a different angle and theory to go with it. It was determined to be an electrical fire and not arson, but what was found in the building that burned down was a shock to everyone. A secret organization using the store that was once there as a front. There was no word yet on what the group stood for or their purpose, but hard drives had been taken away and were going to be examined for further answers. They'd found a metal bar twisted through the handles of one of the doors as well. That spoke of someone with unusual strength. Then there was the case of the man found murdered in his home with words cut into his chest.

( Why did she have a sinking feeling that this was going to point accusations in the direction of mutant-kind? )

June had a nightmare. She was having them almost every night since they'd come back to the mansion. Most of the time it was about the way her room had exploded that night and her world got turned upside down. Tonight the nightmare was about her father. He was coming after her to take her away from the school. Away from everything that made her feel safe. Away from Kitty.

She woke up in a cold sweat, the feeling of terror so real that she couldn't help but sob as she lay there in the dark. It took her awhile to tell herself that it had just been a dream and that she was safe and still at the school. She was calm enough to go back to sleep but didn't want to. So on very quiet feet she left her room and walked down the hallway to the RA room that Terry and Kitty shared. She knocked quietly and worried her bottom lip as she waited.

It was the evening of Valentine's Day, and what was Kitty doing? Sitting in her room in her pajamas, eating ice cream and getting ready to kill people. You'd think after what had happened at the mansion last month, violence was the last thing she or anyone would want. However, it was Valentine's and she had no date. This succeeded in putting her in the mood for some action.

KillerKitty1138 has signed on.

Kitty slid on her headphones and wireless mic, swallowing the last bit of her large and very fattening brownie sundae. With a wicked smile, she said, "Time to get dirty."

Almost a week to the day later, and Kitty was finally well enough for Hank to let her go. Thanks to his quick thinking and unmatched knowledge on just about everything, he'd been able to stabilize her after the poisonous bug mutant had had his way with her. When he ran his talon arm thing through her, he'd missed major organs by just a fraction. His poison got to her quickly, though, and she'd been weakened enough to need monitoring for some time. And there was also the matter of the slow healing scrape across her face, Never before had Kitty really cared too much about what she looked like, but at the moment she almost wished she could go unseen for awhile.

( Ororo was on top of getting things repaired at the school; she knew who to call and how quickly things would be done )

When Kitty contacted Jean-Paul about doing a New Year's masquerade party, she hadn't been expecting her idea would balloon into what she was now witnessing. The gymnasium had been turned into a sort of winter wonderland. The tree had been brought in and was all lit up. Streamers in jeweled tones hung from the ceiling where disco balls spun and threw shards of rainbows everywhere. To one side of the room a sort of buffet table had been set up with every kind of finger food imaginable, as well as some more sensible eating options. There was punch, desserts, fruit, hot water for tea and hot chocolate, and all the paper and plastic good that could be needed. Several circular tables had been set up with chairs surrounding them, all matching the elegant color scheme of the room. The rest of the gym was reserved for the hired DJ and a nice open dance floor. ( Kitty was already excited, and no one else was even there yet. )
