Kitty couldn't stop watching the footage on the news of the fire in downtown Westchester. It had been playing on different channels since the morning news, and each station had a different angle and theory to go with it. It was determined to be an electrical fire and not arson, but what was found in the building that burned down was a shock to everyone. A secret organization using the store that was once there as a front. There was no word yet on what the group stood for or their purpose, but hard drives had been taken away and were going to be examined for further answers. They'd found a metal bar twisted through the handles of one of the doors as well. That spoke of someone with unusual strength. Then there was the case of the man found murdered in his home with words cut into his chest.
She sighed and turned the tv off. Looking out the window, Kitty pursed her lips. The message was about not being defeated and it could easily be linked back to Xavier's. Then again, there was a lot of hate going around and it could have absolutely nothing to do with any of them. It was paranoia that had her always jumping to the conclusion now that everything on the news was somehow connected to the attack and mutants in general.
When Paige suggested an afternoon of shopping, Kitty pretty much jumped on it with grand enthusiasm. There was so much going on all the time that she was beginning to feel twice her age, and the effects of not being able to just hang out with friends and decompress was beginning to wear on her. Her temper was shorter, her patience was thinner, and she'd been told her homework was a little too hard sometimes. She needed to get out for an afternoon and being with Paige would help. She wouldn't have to censor herself or hide anything. She could just let it all out and not have to worry about anything.
