[ quinn stares at the pamphlet for a moment, skimming the pages, then tosses it aside like it was a piece of trash she'd picked up by mistake. ]

If this is some sort of freshman hazing, I've seen better. [ like how the football team used to trap artie in the porta-potties. ] I've done better. [ things she'd rather not think about; that's not her anymore. ] I'm not impressed, and I'm not joining whatever sorority you're trying to recruit for. My answer's no, so you can let me out now.

I've got orientation in an hour and if I miss, I won't hesitate to turn you and everyone else involved in this to campus police.

[Some greasy fool in latex-looking overalls is trying to stare into the lens-portion of the communicator and not doing a good job because he is extremely walleyed and holy crap look at this dude.]

Hmm.

[He fiddles with the buttons on the thing on his ear, and the video feed phases in and out a few times. Visuals fade back in after a few more moments of him dicking around.]

Are we tuned in?

[Pause.]
[Then weird lopsided smiling.]

Hi there~

Am I the only one around?
The brochure says there's a "baseball" team, but I'm not so sure how old the brochure is, so. Sometimes you find old relics in weird places.

[The "brochure" is in a wadded-up ball behind him on the floor, so it's safe to assume he didn't do much reading.]

Could someone maybe set me straight, if anyone is around? I think I got a little turned around. Maybe sometime last night.
[Sure.]
And I need to get home.
[Right.]
Or I'm never going to hear the end of it.
[Whatever.]

[Here, have a very peeved Caroline. She doesn't like being kidnapped. At all. Been there, done that but at least she's not in a cage or some sunlight tortue dungeon, and she's not being shot at. Her voice is deceptively sweet as it is firm but her frown speaks volumes as well.] Look, Klaus. I'm grateful for the whole saving my life thing but... I never said I was ready to go 'see the world' or anything.

And no matter what you think, kidnapping is not romantic. [She's wrinkling her nose] Not even when it's to some underwater hotel.

[The warnings have already been given, but it's a little too late. The gas was invisible, untraceable to the normal senses. But someone might feel it. The changes in them if they had been close enough, breathed in too much. Too bad they probably wouldn't care after that either.

It's not such a big deal now, is it? Neither is holding back on all those things they keep to themselves, or refusing to do the things they remind themselves are bad or dangerous or against the rules. Who cares about rules anymore? Why not just do what they want? Why should they hide how they feel? Why should they keep hiding who they really are? Who came up with all of these silly unspoken rules anyway?

You do not feel a loss of control. To you, it's like being more in control than you've ever been. And choosing to just go with it. You only have one life to live! Regret, remorse and reservation are all just words to you for the day. Just...try not to die or kill anyone.]

[Oz has a date, kind of, not really, but yeah, maybe, a friend date. Rogue and he are meeting at the beach. He hasn't run into anyone yet today so he has no idea that he has no wall between what goes through his mind and what comes out of his mouth today. But once he does figure that out, it should be interesting. So with his hands in his pockets, he's walking toward the beach with his eyes intently on the ground as he walks. Anyone is free to run into him between here and there or between there and here.

And once he gets there, he hopes to find Rogue. Friendly faces are good to spend time with.

[Sometimes, a bedroom wall just isn't enough.

With Garcia arriving, Reid feels the pressing need to rearrange his notes. Parts of his notes. The parts pertaining to the nature of Marina and multi-dimensional mumbo-jumbo and all the other things he's tried to wrap his head around ever since he arrived. There's a lot of them, and his apartment is only so big and either way he wouldn't be entirely comfortable presenting this to her in such a disjointed mess of scribbles. It's not the way they do things.

And this is why he's at the library for most of the afternoon and a good chunk of the evening, straightening out hastily scribbled thought processes and following cross-references and what else there is he could be doing with this mess of paper. Feel free to bother him or spy on him or remind him that food is definitely a thing that should happen eventually, cause he won't remember!]

[ You might find Elena Gilbert out and about this afternoon. She's moseying quite a bit in Sector 2 and 5, considering she wants things to do and she still needs some more clothes and definitely needs food. (Okay, Damon, because she needs to ingest something that's not blood or alcohol.)

So you might find her poking about the pet cafe with bags in her hands, you might find her holding a sweater or two up from a rack for perusal, or you might find her trying to decide if she wants pulp in her orange juice or not. You might even find her just taking a stroll.

Mostly she's keeping to herself, but she'll have a friendly smile for anyone who catches her eye. Really, mostly - she just needed out of that apartment to feel even a little bit busy and occupied by other things. Like "not Damon" and "not being stuck here."

[The world is upside down!

Actually it's just the camera angle. But it's focused on a certain blue and red superhero who is juuust pulling the mask down over his chin as the video feed starts to roll. You totally just missed seeing his face you guys. He gives the camera a little wave.]
Aloha.

Been meaning to get up here. View's preeeetty swell if you ask me. [Camera stuck to the side of the clock tower, Spidey moves out of the frame so the sight can be admired by all.] Great place to eat breakfast and chill. Meditate maybe, if it's your thing.

If you can get up here, of course.

Rogue, I'm free of the chain gang now so anytime you're free... I hear the lunch service up here is just as fantastic. You don't even have to tip.

[Sector 4 is a beautiful, landscaped residential area of the dome, where you'll find many homes, as well as parks, a butterfly pavilion, and a beach with an observation deck for the dolphins! It might be a little chilly for a swim, since it's still winter, but there's plenty of things to do.]

[Maybe you're visiting a friend here, or want to get zen by the meditation waterfall, or sit by the koi pond, or admire the massive cherry blossom tree still in full bloom. Or maybe you're just passing through on your way to the coffee shop in Sector 5 or the arcade in Sector 3, and waiting for people to ambush you!]

[So what are you doing? Anytime of day, with anyone! Just put down your characters and tag around!]

[The game of 'I never' was a rousing success, or perhaps just a disaster. In any case, Buffy is thoroughly and absolutely smashed, so what's a smashed girl to do? Visit her boyfriend of course. Considering all of the 'boy' talk Elena and Buffy had done while drinking, it's not surprising that Buffy decided this was the best moment ever to visit Angel. She finds his place fairly easy, after all she's been there often enough, but she's a bit confused when she starts wiggling the door knob and the door doesn't just open. There's a pout firmly affixed to her face while she twists the door handle. Maybe if she just twists a bit harder...Oops. That would be the door handle in her hand but at least the door is open?]

Angel, your door has shoddy construction. And no handle.

[Oz is sitting in his cell that he's kind of commandeered at the Defense Force. He's not in the best state of mind, not that anyone would know that who happened to pass by and look at him. He's calmly sitting crossed-legged in the center of the cell, his hands resting lightly on his knees and his eyes closed. On the inside though, it's a completely different story. Willow is gone.

Willow is gone.

Inside he's pretty torn up and trying so hard to keep calm and not think about the fact that she's gone. The only clue that he isn't okay is probably the fact that he's locked himself in a jail cell and he hasn't contacted anyone since Willow left. Anyone looking for him will find him here though. And anyone in the cell area themselves will find him here.

In order to distract himself from the lack of the red head in the prison though, he does contact Kohran directly.

[Gear might be looking a little too smug for his own good, but considering he's been working on this project for weeks and finally finished his upgrades, he's happy with himself. Now all he needs is some test subjects...]

So anyone here ever heard of hard light construct projections? There kind of like solid holograms or pictures that you can touch and move around. They don't last forever, though. I've been tickering with one of my old projects and it turns out the one gym in Sector 6 works great for hard light projections--once you empty out all the other stuff in it. [laugh]

I built a programmable obstacle course projector, but it needs a few people to test it out. Any takers want to help me work out the bugs? You can even design your own course and add fake people to it as part of the obstacles. Make a competition out of it.

[He's a little excited. He hasn't has a lot of people to test his inventions on without Virgil around to use as a guinea pig. He outdid himself today, if he can so say himself.]

{OOC: The projector will be set up in the gym for a good chunk of the day so people can come by whenever. The holograms will look REAL and are touchable as if they are real objects. Gear will be there to explain how it works to them and set it up. Doubles are perfectly welcome if you want to challenge people! Just say so in your header if you're open to threadjacks and mingling.}

[The video feed clicks on to reveal the resident cool kid who wears his sunglasses at night.]

Hey, everyone. I'm Robin, in case we haven't met yet. I know it's kind of late, but thanks for all the help when I got here. And thanks for all the suggestions about the Defense Force. I joined up not long after I got here, so if you need help or anything, feel free to ask. It's kind of my job.

By the way, are there other people trained in combat here? Training on my own is fine, but having sparring partners would be even better. Besides, how cool would it be to learn combat styles from other worlds? If you're interested, I'll be in the training hall in sector six.

Hey, do you have some spare time tonight? There's somewhere I want to investigate and a second opinion would be great.

[Feel free to roll on into the training hall. No need to video reply first, if you don't want to!]
[video/action] I Never Game!
26 April 2012 at 03:09 pm
[ greetings, Marina. Hawke again. today she just tosses a wave at the camera. ]

Let it never be said I was good at planning... well, anything... but I came across something that sounded like a bit of harmless fun. Not that it has to stay that way. [ winks ]

It's a charming little drinking game called "I Never". And if at least half of us are passed out on the floor by the time the evening's over, I'll consider it a success. The tavern would have been my first choice, but as it met a rather sad end... shall we say around eight o'clock? In the club?

((OOC: Forward-dated action in the comments! Enjoy!))

[Gamewide Mingle: Thanksgiving]
07 April 2012 at 08:25 pm
[At the entrance to Sector 5, several very long tables have been set up outside. Low light is provided by street lamps hung up just for the occasion, a cozy dining room in the middle of the street. There's turkey, mashed potatoes, candied yams, cranberry sauce, and many, many other Thanksgiving favorites. A warm, printed message at the center of the table asks:

In the tradition of the holiday known as Thanksgiving, please feel free to enjoy this meal and think about all the things over the last year for which you are most grateful.

Come one, come all! Food covers the tables, enough for the prison's entire population, courtesy of the bots. Have a nice big dinner with your fellow inmates, and get your CR on!]

[Today is just another normal day in Marina for Zero. It's new inmate day, which for Zero means it's time to update his mental count and ensure that he knows just who in the facility he needs to be keeping a closer eye on. If there is anyone new that he needs to add to the list.

Currently the number is eight. Saya, Diva and Conrad. Damon. Himself and Yuuki. Angel. D--he thinks. Honestly, he's not positive on the last one which is frustrating for him. It's like being around Kaien Kurosu--but worse. One minute, he'd swear he was a vampire and the next--not. He's not used to having his instincts mangeled and unsure.

Still, Zero keeps an eye on him just in case.

Slowly, Zero makes his way through the dome from street to street. Sector to sector. If someone new has arrived today, Zero will know it by the end of the day. He might contact you, he might not. You might see him, you might not. He never reports his findings or outs anyone. If asked, he'd probably even tell you what he was doing if he thought it would be something you'd want to know. There is nothing covert about his mission, he's just checking in on everyone and making sure they are behaving themselves.

Identifying their companions.

The areas they prefer to hang out.

Checking for extreme routine changes if you've been there for a long time.

Information gathering. Patrolling.

Some might even call it stalking.

Zero just calls it, 'being thorough'.]

[ooc: Stalker!Zero can be found anywhere in the dome. By anyone. Feel free to have your character run across him or confront him if he's annoying you or your vampire friends. IF I MISSED ANYONE WHO WOULD BE CONSIDERED A VAMPIRE, please let me know. I'm not Zero. I'm still human and make mistakes.]

[ Being locked up is one thing; being restrained just makes Faith's skin crawl. The fact that okay, yeah, she's kind of totally dangerous doesn't escape her but the problem here is she's usually the target of other dangerous things. Which means having a giant heavy ball attached to her leg makes her way more vulnerable. So the grunting and wheezing should be unsurprising as she tries to yank the chain off of the ball. ]

You think this is gonna help? Seriously, I get it. Normal prison wasn't cutting it, so you pull me out and dump me here. Fine, great. Three squares and a weird headset? All kosher. But this? [ She punctuates that by chucking the welcome basket away with a sneer. ] Ain't gonna cut it -- can't chain me up and dump in some graveyard like old times. I'm only declawed for humans, let's get it straight.

[ Though...now that she's looking around this place is pretty scarce for a graveyard. ]

Okay, what the hell is this? Whack-a-vamp? [ Stiiiiill trying to disable the old ball 'n' chain, here. ]

[ After waking up, it takes Elena a few breathless, panicked moments of trying to pull off the source of that sudden and disturbing communiqué and barely processing what Sentience is telling her. The communicator hits the ground and switches on to voice.

(She's not sure where she is. Someone took her? There's a chill to the air. She's surrounded by metal and concrete. This isn't - doesn't seem like Klaus. Because the voice said - what did it say?)

Inmates? Thanksgiving? - no, that's not possible. Neither is the weight attached to her ankle, which she touches lightly for an astounded moment and then gives a testing tug to pull off, to no avail.

Her breath is heavy and shakes slightly; that's all the network hears for a moment.

Okay. She can figure this out. Resolved and confused, she grabs for the device she had tossed to the floor.
] Hello? Is anyone-? ... Damon? [ His name is soft, and the last syllable trembles. Where is he? She can't be here alone.

That's when she notices the welcome basket. She sets the device aside in favor of rummaging through it for something, anything, her fingers eventually slipping over and clutching the pamphlet. There's a map, and she skims the words, processing them much like she processed Sentience's. Getting outside to see how real this is seems like good a plan as any.

It's a good several minutes before Elena's on the network again, and now she's on video and outside the ice rink.
]

This doesn't make sense. [ Her lips twist slightly; there is uncertain fear in her eyes, but determination too. Is this some really bad trip of her conscience? ] How is any of this even possible? Please, I- if anyone can answer me...

My friends, my fam- [ Her voice catches in her throat. ] Is Jeremy here? Jeremy Gilbert? ... or... Klaus? [ Please no. ] Ric? Stefan? [ She pauses. The silence is not comforting. ] Anyone.

[Suddenly there is video! And now there isn't. Oh, but now it's back! Give him a break, he's a carpenter, not an A/V geek.]

Hey, so did anyone know that prison came with headgear? I was not aware of that. I kind of feel like I should be one of those really pretentious rock stars who can't be bothered with a microphone. Also, kind of awkward to have this thing over one eye when you only have one eye.

Right, so... I was with some people. And there was a giant hole where a town used to be. Buff? Wil? ...I'll even take Andrew. Are you on this thing?

(OOC: He has an eyepatch over one eye even though not every icon confirms this!)
