( 'You have to let me go,' she whispered, gaze returning to the roadblock of his hand on hers. 'You don't have to lie for them, it's -- it's --' she wanted to tell him it was okay, but the word wouldn't come past the tears, she couldn't force it past her lips and off her tongue. )
