Hey guys. I changed the communities around - there are no longer banners at the top of each journal - which I think makes things look more unified, and since I switched the journal styles to "s2", the tags are displayed on the journals/communities instead of just on the comment pages. So, when you look at x_ooc_x, you should see [Tags|link, link].
Also, I'm pretty sure we lost "J", the potential player of Wolfsbane, but she never posted, so it's not that big of a deal, eh? Lol. Anyhow, I was sort of looking forward to having Rahne around, so if anyone is interested, she's available again.
Finally, as per requested by other players, we've (myself/Rob) posted some open threads in a few communities. They can be found here: Colossus and Rogue @ Chuck's and Sebastian Shaw tag 2 HFCers. Also, it's not too late to join in with Wolverine, Cannonball, Levity and Zap here as each character has only been posted once, and the thread is open to one more character. None of these threads have progressed rapidly, as we were waiting on other characters to jump in. In a few days, we'll wrap them up if no one joins in.

Sorry I all but vanished there for awhile. We adopted a shelter kitten, and all of the final projects are due within the next 2 days, including the group project that turned into "Meesh gets to finish/fix everything." Plus, finals are next week.
I know I'm in one thread with Mary and Matt, and I'll be tagging it tomorrow sometime. I should be caught up by Thursday, and the kitten goes to get spayed that day, so helloooo free time Thursday night.

I know Beck informed everyone that I dropped four of my characters (Mystique, Rogue, Matrix and Nightshade), but I figured I should remind everyone who I do play now, so.... Lol.

Hi. Just a few notes - I'm taking Rogue over, and she needs a John and Bobby to go with Kitty. Whee!
This Rogue never took the cure (as per X3 novel canon) and she has never been with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. She's all nerdy and crap, and a bit pent up, so... that'll probably cause some fun at some point. She is also not dating Iceman, nor has she since he dated Kitty. And she probably never will, unless he does some fancy wooing. Most of her energy has been directed at training (physical!) and studying (college!) and more recently missions (volunteering!). So she could probably us a break.
I'd love to interact with Jubilee, Kitty, Sunfire/pyre, Colossus and Wolvy. Look out, y'all.

Before these characters get posted, I wanted to mention that some changes have been made...
A) Iceman and Mystique are now up for grabs. (As well as Pyro, Angel, Juggernaut, Psylocke, Multiple Man, Meltdown, etc, etc.) Leigh has decided to drop Rogue and Mystique, as well as two of her originals; Matrix and Nightshade. I'm gonna snag Rogue, and hopefully we can shuffle around or get some new folks to pick up our X-Men. We need 5+ film canons now. Oi!
B) Polaris might be better off in the Hellfire Club - any thoughts? Twins, did you still wanna leave? Then Mystique could run the show her own way. Ideas?
C) In their character summaries, Mars and Zap were supposedly living at Xavier's and doing their old jobs. We've decided that they are still infected with the Upir Virus (their choice) and are living off the synthetic blood. They are living in a home of their own nearby and visit the mansion near-daily. A little independence goes a long way.

ADDED 11/04/08 Thread limit! Please involve each of your characters at any given time in only two threads. This will help to keep overexposure down and will allow all characters equal time in the spotlight. Logs, journal entries, etc do not fall under this rule - only open, on-going threads. But try to spread your attention evenly over all of your characters.

A word from Rob: So, I was thinking a bit on the state of the world after our fast forward. What I would like to see is something kind of the fandoms of Firefly, Star Trek and Star Wars, in that the further you get from civilization (for our purposes, the cities and towns) the more likely it is that there is lawlessness - wilderness - uncertainty. There would be a feeling of unexplored territory, sort of like a semi-Old West. There are still rebel mutants, humans, vampires and Darkseekers in the nooks and crannies of the world, so people would stay closer to cities and try to keep in groups. If anyone has any input (eh?) or questions/comments, leave 'em. :D

Hello everyone. Just dropping by for the traditional introduction thread. I'm Matt. I'm from the aquatic state of Louisiana. I'm 23, mostly Irish, and agnostic. I'm currently in between semesters, my major is Philosophy. Big fan of the comic book culture, especially Marvel. Was in the market for another Marvel group and Leigh invited me here. Yes, once again some poor sap is attempting to bring Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver to the Aftermath scene. Hopefully this time around we get things right. My take on Pietro was produced after extensively reading what you guys have stitched into the plot thus far. My Quicksilver is evolving away from the bigotry of dear old dad slowly but surely. He's never really been a true blue villain, yet at the same time he's hardly X-men material. I plan on him doing some soul searching during the FF, what with his father kicking the bucket and all. I'm going to try and get him to come into his own, but hell this is Pietro. He's been known to be stubborn a time or two. ;D Scenes wanted: I'd love to have some classic Quicksilver rivalry with old optic eyes himself, Cyc. I'd also love to interact some with the other speedsters we have so far, Scoot and Northstar. Also HFC antagonism is a must! There has been little activity lately in the IC communities, and after seeing the results of the poll (and feedback from a few members), Dan and I would like to ask if you would like to fast forward the game (which would help with some of you newer members plot-wise!) by 6 months or a year.
So, please let us know. And as Dan said earlier, the results to his survey will be posted once a few more people have taken it. There are 10 so far.
Anyhow, comment here with your name in the subject and if you'd prefer to fast forward or not, and if so, would you prefer it to be 6 months or a year.

Hey guys!
Sorry for the lack of anything the last two days. I've been working on a nano marine tank and it managed to come to a head in the last 48 hours. 13 hours gathering supplies for, building and arranging a tank is far too long, let me tell you!
That said, outside of a quick trip to the store to buy a hypodermic needle and lemon juice (odd combination, no? XD) I should be back to my hermit ways and be constantly available again. Gibs is eager to bug more of you, I intend to allow this! :D |

Okay. I have a lot to say, and I'm sick of OOCs. Alas, earwax. Dan's survey has given me some incite, so that's fun. People need to squawk more, I tell ya. Things might get done around here. I had no idea some of you felt the way you (apparently) do.
So. Some minor things that I can change - altering a few of the rules. I can do that. Some of you requested a few of them getting tweaked. No problem. Explaining retcons - the only two (and most recent) retcons fortunately involve a canon who is no longer in play, and two originals. However, I would like to know more details myself. So once Jordan and I get things figured out, we'll be sure to let everyone else know. That's another easy fix, eh?
So far as the plot and activity go - I can't stress enough that this is YOUR GAME TOO folks. Please ask questions, please participate, please throw up threads. Please please please. So many of us rarely post... maybe once a week. It's killing me. I don't like nagging. So I'm considering a "post once a day" rule, as opposed to "post once a week". An IC or an OOC a day couldn't hurt anyone. And the biggest complaint on the survey was the pace of the game.
If we don't like the fluff community, we can ax it, or only I can post in it. Because I do like it and I don't want to bury important things with my junk. But if you all don't mind reading my junk, well, then, we can nix the whole ordeal. I do like the idea of the backdates, though.
So far as the plot goes - make it so. Suggest things, talk to me/Dan, ask when things are going to happen, or post them happening yourselves. Start your own plot lines and story arcs... We can't be responsible for every major event that happens. Too many players just let things happen to them, or respond to things, instead of throwing a wrench in the gears. Be proactive - IC and OOC.
There were far too many complaints on the survey about things that are mostly out of my hands. So, start communicating! :)

P.S.S. I've updated the rules. Players can now pick up any canons they'd like. Players should now post at least 3 times a week to the IC or OOC communities. There are now limits on the amount of characters that can be played by a single player. Retcons must be mod-approved and should be explained fully in the OOC. See examples of (new and improved!) retcons here & here.

News for yous. There are two new characters up for grabs (Psylocke and Boom Boom/Meltdown). Leigh's decided to drop them, and carry on the rest of her pups (some still in hiatus).
Also, at this time, I'd like to remind everyone of the 2 canons to 1 original guideline. Some of us players from a while back have mixed up characters so many times that we may or may not be breaking the rule, so, give it some thought and check your lists. Also, new players should think on picking up two canons before apping with an original. If no other canons appeal to you, talk to me about it. :)

Just as with the "played by" list, here is a list for everyone's reference purposes so that no toes get stepped on. Picking up canon characters which have mutations of someone already in the game cannot be avoided, and should not/is not discouraged. However, when creating originals, please check this list and contact the player of anyone with similar abilities to your character. It may bother them/make them uncomfortable. Of course, more than one person can have the same mutation, but there are hundreds to choose from, and characters that share mutations can always be in different affiliations. :) I hope this helps!

Please check out the following, both above and below the cut. Thanks! And after you've read, if you have any questions or comments, please post them here. I want to make sure we're all on the same page. I know not everyone has read everything (even if it's just the recent stuff), so I thought this might help.
PLOT PAGECURRENTLY; The cure for the virus spawned from the Mutant Cure (as created by Worthington Pharmaceuticals) has been found. The X-Men have been working for several months to seek out and cure all infected humans - single-handedly. Both the government and the Brotherhood are not to be trusted with the 'cure weapons' that were created for the administration of the human cure. The weapons fire rays of radiation - derived from a machine found during a mission to the pentagon - that eliminate the mutated X-Gene virus that resides within normal homo sapiens. Unfortunately, it was created originally as a weapon against mutants (similarly to the Sentinels) and has one of four effects on homo superiors: loss of mutation, evolution of mutation, advancement of mutation or death.
During their missions to administer this cure to the human beings (affectionately nicknamed 'Darkseekers') it was discovered that when bitten by infected homo sapiens, that real mutants (X-Men, etc) are infected with a tainted form of the mutant cure that has been exposed both to other mutants and to homo sapiens genes. The result is that their mutations go unaffected, however, they begin to take on traits of the infected homo sapiens (see above) and more. Mutants that are bitten by uncured humans begin displaying symptoms of classic vampirism.
As the world begins to put itself together again (much thanks going to the X-Men and Brotherhood) what sort of niche will these new Mutant Vampires find? Will the new world be sympathetic to their plight? Or will they be seen as monsters? How will they use their new abilities? And how will the newly formed governments decide to deal with problems that arise concerning these 'vampires'?

Hello! I've updated the "how to label your threads" entry to include an outline for journal entries as well. See that here: How To Label Your Threads.
I log all of the journal entries to keep track of them, and update once in a while to the OOC with a list of them and links to help promote. :) See that page here: Journal Entries.
I also wanted to remind folks to use the TAGS system. And please don't feel the need to get descriptive with your tags. In the OOC, your name works fine. In the IC communities, your characters' codenames work fine. I'd prefer keeping things simple, because if everyone adds random descriptive tags to ic and ooc posts, there might be three tags for the same type of thread: "romance," "love," "fluff." You know. All mean the same thing. Not really necessary.

Hi! I'm new! My name is Mary and I live in Germany (but I'm not German). I'm a soldier by trade with a current cushy assignment so gaming is a good way to pass the time. I love the X-Men, exploring Europe, reading, writing, and jdramas. I've been shopping for a good X-Men game for a long time. Lili pointed me in the direction of this place.
I bring to you Shiro Yoshida AKA Sunfire. He's 21 and still taking High School classes. I mention the latter because some people may find it weird. He's Japanese, his father a UN ambassador. Since his father was gone most of the time and his mother died, Shiro spent a lot of time with his mutant hating Uncle. When his powers manifested at 16, he ran away from home in fear of his Uncle's reaction and joined Japan's underground scene as a "fighter for hire" going from gang to gang, where ever there was money or something to do. His father looked for him but when he found out his son was a mutant, he contacted Xavier Institute and they helped him locate Shiro. That is his basic history which Sunfire will probably only tell in bits while really drunk.
Personality-wise, I was highly influenced by Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender (hit me if you want). He's hot tempered, speaks out when he probably shouldn't, and overly sensitive taking most things personally. On the good side, he's loyal once you get passed his trust barrier and he can't stand to see people be picked on. He's a decent fighter, having been in kendo and karate classes since the age of 6. However, due to his temperament, his impatience gets to him so holds him back a little. It also doesn't help he gets frustrated a lot. I wouldn't like to call him a loose cannon... but yeah, he is a loose cannon. Everything else is located on my profile if you choose to read it. I'm so excited! Yay!

Hello!
I'm J, bringing you the incredible redhead, Rahne Sinclair! Rahne comes from a broken home -- being the daughter of a courtesan and a reverend. When her mutant abilities manifested, the church thought she was literally the spawn of the devil, and went off to hunt her. In the form of a wolf, our lovely redhead escaped torture -- but inevitably found herself safe on Moira's land, who brought her safely to Xavier's.
Rahne is still emotionally perturbed, even after all of these years. She needs comfort, really. She'd probably seek comfort in individuals, but afraid to go that "extra mile" in friendship.
I'm lookin' for all different kinds of plot -- "forbidden" romantic interests, social situations, all that good stuff. So, if this wolfsbane strikes a fancy, then let's thread it up! ;)

I'm bringing in the smartass feral known as Wild Child. I've been playing him on and off for a very long time and am really excited to get back into a game! As always plots are love, I'd love to get some tension going between Kyle, Wolvie and Sabertooth... Kyle also has a habit of getting stupid over women, so that's always fun, but any and all plottage is rockin'.
I work online and as such am generally always up for a scene. Threads work AIM is love! Feel free to hit me up for anything, ManoLeander and HippyDamien both work, so pick the name you like most.

In light of recent events, I'm going to be putting two more characters on hiatus: Scarlet Witch and Boom Boom. Reason why I'm doing this is because they've sort of been left in limbo and I need time to figure out what I'm going to do with them. Flux will probably be making her return here shortly, though. :)
So yeah, if any of you guys have ideas/suggestions, please let me know! I'd rather not have them sitting out of the game for too long.

So Jordan and I made some jack-o's last year and I just found the picture we snapped of them.

I made the X-logo and Jorge made the rather scary shark teeth face. A few days later, the X-logo had curled inward into a taco shape and the shark teeth looked more like a gramma sans dentures. So that was fun! Lol. That's all.

| Brotherhood - Please read. |

I know this was touched on a while ago, but Becky and I discussed whether or not we want The Brotherhood to continue in existence. The decision will be dependent upon the consensus of the members. Keep in mind that this will not effect any part of the storyline concerning the HFC and Vampires, it's simply just another group to have around. If anything, this will add plot and complexity to the game. I will compile a list of members below, please give your opinion as soon as possible as the game is about to move quickly. Let me know if you have a character that would like to join/remain in participation. Thanks.
*Note - Some changes I know some of us have mentioned is making the BH a lot smaller than it was before. A consolidated version so that 1) There are more characters available for the HFC/X-Men, 2) The game isn't so spread out with three huge entities, and 3) Mystique will be able to identify characters that are truly loyal to Magneto's cause and weed out the "brats" and "tag-alongs" so to speak. Maybe a one character limit per player? Just throwing out ideas, talk amongst ya'selves.

Meesh here. I wanted to give a heads up that I might be a bit slow going in my tagging. My job unexpectedly and unceremoniously ended, so job hunting has become priority number 2, school being number 1. I'm keeping up with tags as best I can, but I wanted to let people know why I might be slow.
I'm hoping (hopinghopinghopinghoping ::fingers crossed::) that I'll be able to keep Aurora and keep up with the community, but I can't make any solid promises. I'll know better by the end of the weekend, and be able to give a definite answer.
Stupid life. ::kicks it::
I'll be around on IM when I can be, so please don't hesitate to IM me, especially if you're waiting for a tag. I very well could've been distracted and forgot. :)

| So I was thinking... |

I think there need to be more missions, and more real life, out-in-the-world situations. These would be ideal for the upcoming plot. So, if any of you would like to put together some threads where your character is paired with others of your choice (or volunteers) start some brainstorming here or in IM. I think they could be fun and help break the cabin fever.
THINGS FOR X-MEN TO DO:
• assisting government agents with clean up / restoration across the country
• aiding Morlocks in their concentrated settlements (could have some wacky fun with this one)
• assisting homo sapiens with locating family members or rebuilding homes, etc (anything!)
• visiting with their own families/helping them return home from the safe zones, now that things are moving back toward normalcy
• passing out food / supplies to Morlocks or humans
• assisting chain companies rebuild and resupply stores
• working at churches / schools
• settling disputes between other (rogue) mutants and homo sapiens
• rescuing homo sapiens or other mutants from Upir-infected mutants
• helping to restore communications and repair vital pieces of technology throughout buildings and cities in New York (or anywhere)
• interact with the vampires - X-Men or non-X-Men (tag someone, they'll probably respond, lol)
I'm sure you guys can think of other things as well. There was one more thing I wanted to mention; Time spent at Xavier's. Every character in the game that is currently at Xavier's school has had to have been there at least 9 months. Most have been there for 10 or more. But very few were on their own during the peak of the crisis / apocalypse. No one has arrived recently (fall, summer or spring). I just wanted to make sure that that was clear. The Brotherhood are an exception - but they have all been there 8+ months, as well. So, for interaction purposes, everyone should have at least seen everyone else by now. If the person has an important job at the school, they should know their names and most likely would've interacted with them. Staff members and faculty should know all other staff, faculty and most other individuals. I know there are some loners, but it's really unlikely that everyone would still be meeting other people. It's a mansion, not a city. Lol. Mostly, it's really uncomfortable writing characters not knowing other people when as a player, I believe they should, to some extent. And for the record, things are still a bit chaotic outside Xavier's. There aren't any city councils or McDonald's or Wal-Marts or massively functioning churches with potlucks and raffles - YET. Soon, I hope. Hopefully the winter will bring some more civility back to the world. Anyway, I just wanted to make that clear.
