Who: Evelyn, Mars
When: October 30th 2008, midnight
Where: Xavier's; Mars room
What: Happy Birthday to me
Status: in progress
Rating: R?

Evelyn had considered Emma's proposition carefully and decided she liked the idea. She liked the idea a lot. Why not accept immortality and a place in the new ruling class? It was where she belonged. As her birthday approached she decided that she wasn't going to age another year. That left the small, tiny problem of how to get infected. Letting some darkseeker bite her wasn't high on her list. There were fewer of them to be found outside of large groups now and she didn't fancy becoming dinner. But there were some nice and lovely vampires living right here with her in the mansion. Why not have one of them pass it on? That certainly seemed like the more preferable option, and if it didn't work she could always go the darkseeker route as a backup plan.

Picking from the few who had been infected was a quick process. So many of the X-folk were such goodie goodie's, vampire or not. Mars however, he had a dark side. She knew it. She was sure she could convince him to change her. She smirked. She might really enjoy this experience, having heard about some of the side-effects. He had turned her down before, he might not now. She headed to his room when she noticed his little wifey wasn't about. Evelyn didn't bother knocking, knowing he would know she was coming thanks to his powers. Delicate, well manicured nails pressed open the door and she called out. "Knock, knock."

Ronan had awoken to find the bed (and room) empty. No surprise. Zap had been becoming more and more distant lately. And in turn, he'd become more snappish and short with everyone, which wasn't helping the situation. Conlan and Eva had become standoffish more over the weeks as well. Needless to say, Ronan Murphy was not in the best of moods. He'd scanned the mansion to find out where his wife had gone to. Levity's room. No surprise there, either. He was in the process of removing his shirt (he'd fallen asleep fully clothed, intent on showering before he went to work) when he felt Poison coming toward his room. His room. No fucking way. And the bitch didn't even knock before she slithered herself in. Ronan took the time to unbutton his shirt and remove it before he lifted his head slowly towards the now open door. Sometimes Ronan did things slowly on purpose. He could move so quickly now and he liked to take it things easy once in a while (and so he didn't put his fist through her face in two seconds). He glared daggers at her for a moment before he opened his mouth to speak. "What the fuck," he began, turning the rest of the way to face Evelyn, "are ye doin' down here?"

Evelyn smiled and lifted her hands palm out in front of her. "A simple business proposition." She said. "You have something I want." Something she needed to get where she wanted to go. "Something I am willing to give a lot for." She smirked and moved closer. "I can think of a lot of things I can give with no strings attached and I can keep a secret." She glanced around. "Things that apparently your little sweettart haven't been providing?" She had noticed his bad mood and made some assumptions. Evelyn was willing to give a lot to be turned, but if it would be something enjoyable for herself as well that would be a lovely bonus.

"Don't," he said, taking a step closer to the snake woman. "ever talk about my wife." It wasn't a suggestion. She had no business talking about Zap. Their 'conversation' they'd had by that tree a while back was the last time he'd intended to speak with her (alone anyhow), yet here she was with that smirk on her face. He wanted to backhand it off. "Just because yer a whore disguised as an heiress, doesn't mean I'm gonna do what ye want." He wasn't. Ronan had noticed Poison lurking around the other vampires (Emma Frost too). It hadn't taken him long to deduce her desires. "Now get the fuck outta here before I do somethin' ye'll regret."

She arched a brow at his attitude. The smirk went away and a cold, and previously unseen, look came across her face. "Fine." In her opinion, he had just solidified his one weakness in her mind. "I want to be changed, infected, whatever. You do that and neither of you need ever see nor worry about me again." Small poisonous claws appeared and she looked at them as if they were a new manicure. "If I have to wait, or try and find someone else... well that would take time and I tend to be easily bored." If bribery wouldn't work, she'd try threats.

Ronan's expression didn't change when Evelyn's did. That fucking bitch. He let out a cruel laugh. "Ye really think threatenin' my wife'll make me change my mind?" She'd just fucked up in a major way. In (what seemed) to be the blink of an eye, Ronan's face was inches from Evelyn's. "Ye just signed yer death warrant."

Evelyn blinked and instinctively backed up. That was FAST. She had never seen the vampires move that fast. At his threat she swiped her claws at him, poison dripping from them. She just needed to get out of here and she would show him that she wasn't someone to anger.

He saw the claws coming and reached out to grab her arm as the tips of her nails grazed his face, squeezing with the force of a vice, producing a loud crack when the bones in her forearm snapped in two (or four, if you want to get technical).

She couldn't help the cry of pain as her arm broke. Her heart raced with adrenaline and eyes widened for the first time with fear. Despite all that she tried to strike again, this time in an attempt to get her arm free. She moved as quick as she could pushing her reflexes to their limits.

The Irishman could feel Poison pulling away (to go find Zap, no doubt). He couldn't have it. He wouldn't. She would never go near (or threaten) his wife again. Ronan pulled back hard on her arm (broken one) and wrapped his other hand around her neck, twisting viciously. SNAP! Job done. She wasn't quite dead, though. Oh no. He knew he couldn't feed from her (seeing as her blood was poisonous) but he wanted to bite her all the same. He lowered his head and bit her neck, not allowing the blood to touch his lips. He idly ran a finger through it, enjoying the feel. Hmm. He'd found himself not wanting anyone's blood but Zap's. Hers smelled better than anyone's. Hell, she smelled better than anyone.

There was the briefest of moments when she realized just how big of a mistake she had made and how much she had underestimated Mars. Then... she was gone.

He looked down at the corpse in his hands. Mars let out a sigh. Now he had to dispose of it.

Even had he not seen Evelyn Ormand wander by the circular window in the lab's door, he would have heard and smelled the scuffle a mile away. Hank had followed behind Poison, having abandoned his microscopic adventure. He dare not disturb what was happening, should Evelyn succeed at her goal. Emma had discussed her plans with him in full, and he knew Poison was up for a position in their little group. When the scuffle ended, he pushed through the door and narrowed his eyes at the sight. Good God damn.

Part of him wanted to say 'This is my fault', but he wouldn't admit that in front of Mars. The man knew too little of their situation - at least for the time being. "I had a feeling she would come to you." He finally said, his tone a forced calm. "Give her to me, son," he urged, seeing that Mars had unnecessarily spilled some of her blood. Even if the younger man hadn't drank any, it was only a matter of time before someone was tempted. Time came into play in all aspects of their current situation. He looked downward as he moved toward the inventor and noticed the few drops of blood on the carpet. It would take more than the two of them to fix this.

"Emma?" he spoke into his headset, "May I have your assistance down in the lab?" Mentally he added, Mars' room. Hopefully she'd pick up.

His blue eyes looked into Ronan's and he debated asking whether or not the other man was okay. He seemed well enough. And rightly so. He'd been trained to be unaffected by death - especially by his own hand. Arms extended, he slowly took hold of the quickly-cooling body of Evelyn and supported her in a cradled position, with her throat wound pressing against his sweater. Well, at least it wasn't his lab coat. "Because we had a hand in this mess, you have mine and Emma's assistance. I will speak with Emma and make sure she keeps everyone's minds clear of the situation," both men knew that their own infections helped keep out telepathic intruders, but they weren't completely immune. "We should remove her things and tell the others that she decided to seek out survivors from her company and begin rebuilding. For now..." he glanced down into her (for once) peaceful face, "I think we should dispose of this in a manner that leaves little evidence." Darkseekers. He knew where a crowd of them still lurked.
