So since you're attempting to do the whole stay at home dad thing and I know it can get pretty boring, especially while James is at school, I've got a playgroup you should try. It's technically a mommy and me group but there were definitely dads there when Aislinn and I did it. It's fun, you sing songs, they get to play and make noise. I think you'll enjoy it.

Aislinn's second birthday is on the 25th and we were thinking of throwing a party for her on Saturday the 27th. She's finally old enough to grasp the idea of presents and I'm not turning that down. Even though she'll probably think Christmas is one big party for her, too.

That being said, Graham and I are at a standstill. We can't decide on a theme. She likes Frozen but that's out because she doesn't need the reminder her friends are gone. Princesses and pirates are a no go for obvious reasons. As are most things Disney. She gave up on Sophia the First and I like Doc McStuffins but there isn't much party stuff out there.

Keeping in mind cost isn't an issue... Help?

So for those not lucky enough to see the cutest thing ever...

Aislinn finally chose her Halloween costume. She also has a stuffed parrot she only carries for about two minutes at a time and then either Graham or me or Henry if she can catch him gets stuck carrying it.

And no. The irony isn't lost on me. She's still the cutest thing to sail the Seven Seas.

The problem with having a talkative and independent almost two year-old is that she definitely wants to celebrate 'How-een'. She wants to dress-up. Which is fine, it's adorable, it's potentially the cutest thing ever.

However, she's gone through five different costume ideas in the last three weeks. My toddler shouldn't even know what a cowgirl is, let alone want to be one. She also wanted to be a bumblebee, a ballet dancer, a puppy, and, go figure, a princess.

Moral of the story is, don't take a baby into Party City during Halloween.

There is a facility for the teaching, practicing, and researching of subjects related to magic. It is protected from outside view, the threats of this place, and warded against both those with ill intentions and against accidental magical "spillage". There are further protections in place, as well. It is at [address], and it is open to anyone who meets the parameters - and while some areas are restricted, many areas are accessible by those who do not have access to magic, as well, if you wish to simply learn more about it. If you need a space or supplies for a specific spell, or to teach lessons, or something of that nature, I can make the arrangements for you.

Secondly, given the nature of this place and those who often arrive here, it seems wise to mention that I - and very likely a few others, if they choose to offer - can magically imprint the anti-possession tattoo without causing damage to skin, or any pain. This is ideal for those who cannot be harmed by traditional needles, or are too young to acquire one in that manner by a licensed "tattoo artist" from this world. If you are sensitive to magic, however, I would not advise it.
