No Threats
Aislinn's second birthday is on the 25th and we were thinking of throwing a party for her on Saturday the 27th. She's finally old enough to grasp the idea of presents and I'm not turning that down. Even though she'll probably think Christmas is one big party for her, too.

That being said, Graham and I are at a standstill. We can't decide on a theme. She likes Frozen but that's out because she doesn't need the reminder her friends are gone. Princesses and pirates are a no go for obvious reasons. As are most things Disney. She gave up on Sophia the First and I like Doc McStuffins but there isn't much party stuff out there.

Keeping in mind cost isn't an issue... Help?

Do you need a theme?

I mean can't it just be a 'Look how awesome Aislinn is' deal?

Emily's second I couldn't pick one, so we just had a party, cake, sweets, activities...The cake was just bright and happy and all, she loved it.

I guess? I always thought kid birthdays needed at least some general theme. Like in Emily's case you could argue the theme was colors.

...actually that's not bad. She likes to color and play with paint and chalk. An art theme could happen.

What have you done, Ruby??

I...have ensured your living room will be a giant painty/chalky mess.

You're entirely welcome!

The joys of a mansion. We'll just toss the kids in a spare room and let them go to town. Boom, new playroom for Aislinn. Then she can paint in there anytime she wants.

Legos seem to be popular recently - what about a Lego themed party?

Ever step on one of those, Tasha?

When she's old enough to pick up after herself and I don't live in fear of them, we will discuss Legos further!

No, I haven't.

I'll remember that, then.

I think even you would wince in pain. I'd take hot coals over those things.

They have the really big block ones for toddlers. Still painful...

This. Though they are a great way to discover if someone is sneaking around barefoot in your house.

Why can't she have a princess theme? She likes princesses. Give the kid a crown and a cute dress, some fun heels, and have everyone else dress up like royalty.

First of all, my two year-old is not wearing heels.

Secondly, her mother the princess says no by royal decree.

When she's 18 she's going to need counseling because you denied her one wish. A princess party.

You know, it's funny. She only seems to like princesses when Aunt Lois is around...

He is because it's true. When you leave she likes animals and crayons and doggies.

Dogs are animals, Emma.

Doggies are specific. They're her favorite.

It's weird. It's like she knows not to view wolves as just another animal.

I think Graham is getting to her...

I'm not surprised.

Still say she should have a princess party.

Or go with a zoo theme for her love of animals.

I mentioned a zoo party in front of her. Now all I hear is "zebwa, mommy, zebwa!"

So much for getting a playroom decorated for free.

I just hope that whatever we choose will still be something she likes by the 27th. Our daughter is somewhat fickle!

Maybe that's where Lois got the idea she liked princesses!

I think we'd be safe with a zoo theme. We just won't let her choose her favorite animal until right before it.

It was probably Aunty Lois going "you do like princesses, don't you!" while waving a toy in front of her. Does make her very enthusiastic.

Being prepared to switch animal at a moment's notice, definite a plan.

The Sea!

Fish!

Okay, that's all I've got.

Noble effort anyway! And none are on the banned list. Though she doesn't seem all that into the ocean. Maybe next vacation we all take you can teach her how brilliant the sea is.

Good ban list. Avoid traumatising her with weird versions of her family until she's older.

So I shouldn't tell you how we took a trip to Disney World before you got here and got her picture taken with Snow White?

And I think at some point Belle sassed Gaston...
