So, who's going with me to Caroline's last of summer party,,,thing?

Okay, for new arrivals--we really need a new Introduction to Lawrence linky post, everyone.
But
1. Did you all get a place to stay? We've got a few places available but we also understand people not trusting anyone so you're free to figure that out on your own. But we do have nice envelopes full of gift cards and stuff if you'd like one of those. And yes, we've upgraded to VISA and MASTERCARD ones instead of limited to specific shops cause those were a bitch to use.
2. Did anyone tell you about the anti-possession amulets? You'll want one because I doubt any of you would like to be possessed by a demon and while we might know who's in charge of Hell these days we also know there are those not happy with Crowley's rule so possessions can still happen.
3. I'm sure you all know you're in Lawrence, Kansas by now. It's 2014.
4. Can you go home? No one has found a way. You're free to try that out. Good luck but some people have been here for ages. I've been here over 2 years now. Some people go home and come back. Nice thing is no one will know you're gone though. So while you'll worry about them at least they will not know you're gone. When the Seal does spit you out you'll just go straight back to the exact point you've left.
5. So what do you do here? That's up to you. There are monsters to fight if you want to do that. Or live a normal life if you want to do that. (and when I say monsters I mean the ones from this world. We've got werewolves and vampires and aliens and others that we do not lump into the monster group that the Seal brought here.) And I'm sure Rose will let you all know about her Arrival's Class that she offers to fill you in on all the details.

I know that magic isn't the same everywhere, but I figure that someone might have some advice anyway.
I'm having a control issue with my magic sometimes

Sometimes, here lately, I set fires in my sleep
Control is something that I'm realizing I don't always manage. I've gotten better at it, but I've also managed to catch blankets on fire in my sleep a couple of times. So, if anyone has any tips about control I'd definitely appreciate it.

Holy bananas, loads of new arrivals. Hi, everyone! Sometimes the Seal does this. Drops like, fifty people on us. It happens, it's cool. And on the plus side, it looks like a lot of you know each other. Always a bonus.
Anyway! I'm Rose Tyler and I run a class here called, shockingly, Welcome to Lawrence. It's basically a How-To Guide on how to deal with Seal life. The basic issues the Seal brings. How to get a job, go to school, which classes you can take here to keep yourselves safe. Which local places are owned by the displaced so you know who is more likely to tolerate you. The usuals.
We also cover the less pleasant parts of being here. You've been brought to a place with demons. To some of you, 'monsters' may be old hat. What you need to know is that the monsters here will be entirely different. And we're able to help with that. I'll walk you through the classes you'll need to be taking. Ones on vampires, deal making, etc.
Besides which...there's cake!
We meet at the Lawrence Youth Center (big brick building in the middle of the city, can't miss it!) on Tuesday night at 8. Open to everyone who's new and if you have problems with each other...don't. It's pretty simple. All I ask is tolerance and respect in my classrooms.

I think I need something to do with my time, I have entirely too much of it. And since I'm no hunter and impersonating various representatives of different law enforcement agencies is really much more my husband's area of expertise, I was wondering if there might be an interest in a sort of...home ec type class being taught at Rose's Center? It's something I could do and as a bonus, I'd actually really enjoy. Thoughts?
