While I don't appreciate yet another strange kidnapping, I do find this journal fascinating.

ENTRY ➣ GALDIO ➣ AM DAY ONE

It is, isn't it? I wonder what sort of spell they've used to connect all of them, or how near they must be to one another to work.

I hadn't considered if distance might be a factor. Do we really know how far apart we are right now? This complex could be enormous.

I'm inclined to believe that we must be relatively close to one another, though I'll admit that my perception is coloured by the fact that magic doesn't work at a distance in my own world; I've seen enough here to know that that isn't necessarily the case with magic in Vallo.

Hm, I'll be interested to get an answer to this. Distance doesn't necessarily affect the arcane at home. We have a gate that transports ships to far-off lands. But as I'm not a magic user, I only know as much as Jayce and Viktor have managed to discover through hextech.

That's fascinating. I would love to see something like that someday, though I suppose it's likely impossible. Is magic something commonly known in your world then?

Should a hexcore arrive, you just might. It would be the kind of useful magic to get people home if they wanted to return.

Magic is commonly known, yes, but it isn't common used. It's more something people whisper about and fear. Is it uncommon in yours?

That would be very useful. Do you think that could work? I understand people have been searching for ways home for these last three years, and it seems impossible to do deliberately.

The opposite. It's common enough that there's an entire society and government dedicated to it, but the existence of magic is kept from those who do not belong to a magical family.

I couldn't promise it, obviously. But I've seen Jayce and Viktor do the impossible before.

Ah. And were you part of that government?

If possible, I'm sure there would be many who'd take the opportunity.

As a civil servant, yes. I served as a liaison between the Magical Assembly and the non-magical government. And yourself?

That sounds like a stressful job. Do you prefer one side over the other?

I am part of a council that runs our city and funded the creation of hextech, which makes magic accessible to more than just mages.

I really only deal with the magical myself. I meet with the liaison for the non-magical side. It's supposed to ensure that one doesn't develop a preference for one side over the other. There are certainly aspects of the job that are stressful, but I don't mind it too much.

Sitting as a councilor sounds much more stressful, though that sounds like a worthy enough endeavour to fund. It seems like it would go a fair distance in reducing the tensions between the non-magical majority and the magical minority.
