Who: Sophie Devereaux and Sam Ford Where: Hospital Room When: Visiting hours Warnings: Oh, please. Of course not.
She'd been by to the hospital enough times to know the way without issue, and the nurses all knew her by sight. With a smile she sweeped by them, the smell of pizza preceding her into his hospital room. It was an odd time of day for a meal, but he was a growing boy, and he did seem to dislike the hospital food. With a smile she came around the corner, a bit surprised, although plesantly, to have caught him at a moment when he was both awake and alone. That was good... she had something she wanted to talk to him about.
"Hey there, tiger. Hungry?" |

Who: Sophie Devereaux and Nate Ford, and Sam Ford, and maybe others? What: A nice quiet conversation about sobriety and fatherhood Where: Hospital lobby/Hallway/whathave you When: after this
Sophie had stepped out of the hospital room and noticed she'd just missed a call, and meandered down to the lobby. Of course, it wasn't really the sort of call she wanted, and let her know that, without a doubt, Nate was drinking again. There was no way she was letting him in that hospital room without speaking to him first, so it was all well and good that Sam wanted to talk to the doctor alone... she'd simply wait here for Nate. |

A Mountie without a wolf walks into a bar.... |
[Jun. 22nd, 2009|03:07 pm] |
Who: (former) Inspector Meg Thatcher and Nate Ford What: Meeting. In a bar. Where: A bar. When: Some time shortly after this. Warnings: Beyond language? Doubtful.
A bar. Meg Thatcher sighed briefly to herself as she enters. No matter what the venue, she found there was an underlying sameness to all bars: a certain reek of desperation, a certain frisson of loneliness, and of course a distressing tendency for things better left unidentified to go squelch under one's shoe. No Diefenbaker to accompany her on this occasion, but he belonged in Chicago as long as Ben was there.
Besides, she had been handling herself alone in a bar since before she'd had cadet tabs on her shoulders. After fifteen years on the Force, she had decided that the most terrifying thing in them tended to be American beer.
Briefly, she pondered the literal enactment of the traditional Canadian joke regarding American beer, then gave her head a decisive shake and made her way over to where Nate Ford was ... oh, dear. Yes. Drinking again, and not for the first time, she suspected. "Hello," she said neutrally. |

Who: Nathan Ford, Sophie Devereaux, and a comatose Sam Ford. What: Discussions, worrying, who knows. Where: Sam's Hospital room. When: Backdated to right after Sam went to the hospital. THAT VERY NIGHT. Warnings: possible yelling? I just don't know!
Sophie had wasted no time getting to the hospital once Nate had given her the details, taking only enough of a detour to stop and get the promised coffee and a pair of sandwiches - she didn't know if Nate had eaten, but she was sure it wasn't high on his list of priorities at the moment. Once in the hospital She dealt with the usual questions with a few small, minor lies, eventually finding her way to the hallway outside of where they had Sam. She knocked lightly on the door to get Nate's attention, offering him the coffee as she entered.
"What do you know so far?" |

Who: Sam Ford and Sophie Devereaux Where: Her flat When: Afternoon What: Someone's breaking in, and it's not her. Warnings: Naw.
Sophie had been working all sorts of hours at the theatre getting ready for the play. It was weighing on her mind, all the things she still needed to get done before the show was a bit of a distraction. At least, that would be her excuse for why she didn't pick up on the hard-to-notice yet telltale signs that someone else had entered her flat.
Dropping her tote on the floor near the door, She closed the door behind her and turned toward her living room, a single brow lifting as she saw Sam in her sofa, eating her ice cream.
"Well well. Good afternoon, darling." |

Who: Sophie Devereaux and Nathan Ford What: Dinner, Talking Where: Schmancy restaurant Warnings: will update if needed
Sophie believed, in social situations, that it was a woman's prerogative to take as long as needed to get ready, and if that entailed being late, then so be it. Tonight for a change, however, she was ready with time to spare, and simply waiting for Nate to arrive. He was punctual to a fault, he knew, so she only had a few minutes, and they were spent fixes a few flyaway hairs and picking invisible lint off the dress she'd chosen. There was no reason for any sort of nerves - they'd known each other for years. Not that that mattered overly - things had changed, and she hated not knowing where things stood.
She was just reapplying her lipstick when she heard the knock, and took just a moment to finish, dropping the tube into her clutch as she answered door, offering a smile. |

Who: Sam Ford and Sophie Devereaux What: Sophie getting to know Sam, sam catching up with Sophie. There will b crepes involved. Where: Some swanky brunch place. When: Brunch time Warnings: Only if you don't like pastries.
The idea of Sam being here was still quite bizarre to Sophie, though she was sure it was a lot weirder to both him and Nathan. She'd not really spoken to the boy's father since he arrived, wanting to give them a bit of time to sort things out, but certain things he'd said led her to think that talking to Sam could only be beneficial, to everyone involved.
She'd gotten to the restaurant early out of habit, scoping it out with a quick glance, old habits dying hard. With a mimosa in hand she skimmed over the complimentary newspaper while she waited, trying not to think about how completely weird this meal might be. |
