Subject:Dudes For Sale or....The Bachelor Auction!
Time:12:05 am
Who: Open to Everyone!
Where: The Movie Festival, Central Park
When: 4 p.m.

When the clock struck 4, Chiri bounded up onto the stage, grinning and waving at everyone. She'd been given a microphone earlier, which might have been a bad idea, considering it was now covered in stickers. Rainbows and happy faces type stickers. "Good afternoon, Domers! Welcome to happy good fun festival day, with lots of stuff going on! There should be something everyone can enjoy, and we've got an event here to help out our treasured citizens--the children! All proceeds go to the orphanage, which I will assure my very self! If anyone tries to pull a fast one, they're getting bitten! And no one knows if I have rabies or not!" she said brightly to the crowd.

"Anywho! Today, we are gathered here to honor a time tested tradition! To totally sell people off for good times for a good cause! So get out your wallets, and feast your eyes on this Dome's bravest bachelors!" Chiri winked at the crowd. "And by the way, they are all way easy on the eyes, so let's cough up some decent pricetags!" she teased. "Here's how this goes! Opening bids start out at twenty bucks! They'll go up five at a time!" she explained. "To make a bid, wave your number around, and someone'll spot it. Probably me. Then there'll be raising bids, and all that til someone comes out on top! Winners will get an evening with their shiny bought man, along with tickets to a movie at the theater! I should tell you it's got to be done within thirty days, but who the heck would wait it out that long when these men are just waiting for you?" Chiri bounced up and down on her feet. "And on that note--let the bidding begin!!"

Subject:Raw Nerves
Time:07:55 pm
Who: Lia and Riley
Where: Eatzy's & Out
When: Evening
Warnings: None

Riley wore his best plaid shirt and his newest blue jeans as he slid into the booth at Eatzy’s. He’d taken his hat off, the stetson resting on the sugar shaker next to the wall. He was nervous but also pleasantly relaxed. This was Lia he was meeting. Their last conversation had been such a good one. Cathartic and real and full of love too. He was hopeful for this next meeting but he knew it could bring a less favorable outcome because they were going to talk about more of the nitty gritty. Across a table. Kissing wasn’t a great option in this setting. He smiled at the memory of the kiss.

He ordered a water and rested back against the booth to wait for Lia, his eyes averted out the window. What would happen was anyone’s guess. He wasn’t even sure where to start even though he’d had enough time to prepare. Whatever happened would be for the best, he decided.

No, I never wanted to see you again )

Time:05:59 pm
Who: Lia and Riley
When: Afternoon, and then the evening
Where: The ranch and then Lia's home
Warnings: None

Lia had made a decision when she woke up that morning. She was going to take Sophia to meet her father. There didn’t seem to be a good enough reason to put it off, and the truth was, she wanted to see Riley again. So after school, Lia walked over to the elementary school to pick Sophia up, and then the two of them began to walk toward the cattle ranch under Lia’s umbrella. It wasn’t raining terribly hard, but it was drizzling enough that she didn’t want Sophia to be soaked through by the time they got there.

Sophia, for her part, was excited to see the horse Riley owned, which had been Lia’s selling point. She hadn’t told Sophia that Riley was her father. It just wasn’t the right time, yet. But at the least the two of them could meet, and Lia could see how they interacted before she made anymore decisions. Holding onto Sophia’s hand tightly, Lia felt her pulse pick up the closer they got to the ranch. Sophia was talking a mile a minute about a dance she had learned in school, all the while jumping over the smaller puddles the rain was leaving along the sidewalk. It was hard for Lia to concentrate, and by the time they got to the front door of Riley’s house, Lia felt as though she might be sick. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea, after all.

Subject:Reunited
Time:05:40 pm
Who: Riley and Lia
Where: On Elm, heading toward the lake
When: Mid-afternoon
Warnings: None

Riley glanced upward toward the dome he couldn’t see, the brim of his stetson shielding his eyes somewhat from the pleasant glow of the artificial lighting he hadn’t known was artificial until it had gone out a couple days ago. He was astride his usual mount, a chestnut named Loki, wandering down from one end of the dome to the other in search of a little solitude and a swim at the lake near the lumber yard.

Lost in thought, wondering just when people would really start to panic and he’d have to think more about security for his cattle, he almost didn’t notice the woman in his peripheral vision. But some part of him must have registered that he wasn’t alone for he turned and looked straight at her. For a moment he simply smiled, tapped the edge of his hat to her politely as he would anyone else he’d come in contact with. Then suddenly he ripped the hat from his head, eyes wide, his heart in his throat before he realized what was happening and settled back down again in his saddle. Shaking his head, he repositioned his hat on his head and made to move on again, clicking his tongue to Loki.

“Oh for heaven’s sake, couldn’t you ghosts do better than that?” he muttered, somewhat miffed he was seeing them again.

Subject:Ghosts at the Window
Time:10:27 pm
Who: Riley and Zan
Where: Cattle Ranch
When: Early Afternoon

Riley tossed open the back door leading into the kitchen, wiping his boots dutifully on the mat just inside because he knew he’d hear hell from his housekeeper if he tracked dirt across the hardwood. He doffed the hat from his head and hurled it, as he had every day since becoming the owner of this ranch, toward the hook beside the door where it settled perfectly alongside the tan calfskin jacket he wore in the cool hours of the morning.

It was lunchtime and he could smell that his favorite vegetarian lasagna had been baking just prior to him returning from the fence check. He let out a loud sigh and stretched languidly before suddenly realizing there was a pair of eyes watching him that didn’t belong to anyone in his household.

“Zan!” he said with surprised amusement. She was settled at the bar facing the kitchen where Riley assumed his housekeeper had installed her to wait for his arrival. He walked to her and held out a hand to shake. “What brings you here?”

Subject:a little skittish
Time:01:22 am
Who: Riley and Corey
Where: The Ranch
When: early afternoon
Warnings: none currently

Corey had gotten out of school, and afterwards gone wandering. She wasn’t due in to work tonight, and so she had time on her hands. Open time wasn’t really Corey’s friend. She tended to not deal well with a lot of it. Empty hours, doing not much of anything wasn’t great for the mental health thing. So, she’d forced herself not to hide in her place, and to go out.

She had absolutely intended to be social. She had also utterly failed in that endeavor. In the end, she’d headed more toward the outskirts of the dome, and wound up eyeing the outer edges in the tall grass and beyond a fence that kept in...what, a ranch? Something like that. It was possible she should know the place by heart now, but she was ashamed to admit she didn’t. Something farm related went on over here, though.

Actually spotting a rabbit, she stopped, then crept up silently toward the fence. There was a good tree she’d been under for cover, and she quietly took aim, leading the rabbit ever so slightly before she let the metal ball fly.
but not so bad )
