Some things about the environment before we launch! We’ve received some awesome feedback and questions from everyone. To that end, we’ve put together a little guide to the world you’re entering and the mechanics of everything is going to work for a while.
There will be a post without any comments MUCH LIKE THE ONE last night. It will give you information about time, season, etc. This is the time that CURRENT EVENTS will be happening on. Unlike the usual format, we won’t be counting individual days; instead it will be spring, summer, winter or fall, and whether it’s early, middle or late in the season.
We will make more of those posts as the plot progresses, rather than do 14 individualized posts. We love you guys, just not that much. They will be your anchors and mile markers in the timeline.
However, for this first week you are not restricted to this time. It is more of a guide from which you can past date any posts you like. Feel free to hop back in time and thread out anything you like. Or forward date within a month or so, such as visits to other towns or villages. Time for this first period is going to be very, very fluid. You basically have our okay to jump forward or back.
Do you want to play out a Pyxis MANLINESS FESTIVAL? Is it VULPECULA MEAT DAY? Is Monoceros throwing a party for their latest invader? Is ASH RIDING A VELOCIRAPTOR ACROSS THE COUNTRYSIDE? This is a great opportunity to just get in and have FUN with your country and characters, flesh out how things feel and basically enjoy the ideas you’ve come up with since then.
Which brings us to travel. Travel is done on dream mechanics. Even if the distances are technically rather large, feel free to handwave as necessary to get to interesting posts. With time being this fluid, however we ask that you use informative action tags when you drop into things, like tagging into the Vulpecula Meat Day with a [Oh hey, I WAS travelling to Lacerta but shit that smells good.] or [I was here to RETURN EXCEL’S PUNCH TO THE FACE last night and invited to stay.] if you’re not from Vulp. That just gives people a cue to play off of you. Other than that, feel free to travel.
When we start the plot aspect (expect it to begin this weekend coming), we are going to have a more restrictive time frame, but there will be updates as that goes. THIS PERIOD IS JUST FOR ROLLING AROUND IN YOUR WORLD LIKE A HAPPY, HAPPY DOG. We will be.
We will be having a special IJ tag for the event! Please use it on all posts.
JUDGE PLAYERS! Your Judges for right now are gods in the more traditional sense. Distant, and rather hands-offish. For the purposes of this, for now, concentrate on your character(s) and we’ll tap you if we need you for something more active.
Setting! We have given you the basics of what particular countries look like! That’s all we will mandate. From there, you can fill in what you want. What this city looks like, or what kind of paving they use for their roads, where you lived and the back roads/trails you traveled, continues to be all up to you. You will mold it WITH us as we all play. Do you have to? No! Can you if you want to? ABSOLUTELY.
Critters/Plants - the lists that are done are basic guidelines! If you have an urge to make up new and awesome things, HELL YEAH, ping a mod and we can certainly see where things go.
Ophiuchus - Certain people have established a connection with a god, deep and powerful. For doing their will, they are also granted enormous power and respect. It can be more common through some bloodlines than others, but it can really happen to anyone in any country. It is more of a religious sect than anything else. You are basically touched by one god, but who’s to say you wouldn’t obey another if the situation happened? We will have a special role for you later, so stay tuned and enjoy the show as well.
This is a good time to mention that there are some in the previous post. GO check em. And for those that don’t want to lurk in #allthequestions, or who are worried about missing things, there is a gdoc that will be used to log questions and answers that others might find useful. You’ll find it in the Old Sabra folder.
Also, if you have a concern or question, please don’t feel afraid to email a mod or PM one of us if we don’t have a NPM in our nick. We will do what we can to answer as well as we can, and we honestly try to resolve issues the best way that we can.
