July 4th Pool Party / Barbeque, from 2PM all day all night

[info]ilmatar
[info]morningstar_mnr
The glass doors separating the pool from the garden had been opened and pulled aside to make the roof one big area for the party. The barbeque grill and tables were set up in the gardens, music was on by the pool part and the whole place was decorated with the Independence day in mind.

Not to mention that the weather was great for a summer party and that it was in the best place to see the city's fireworks later on - everything promised a grand party for the Manorites.

Party post rules, you know what to do! Have fun.

Private viewing - open to all invited

They were well organised by now. Gil from the Flamingo Lounge had done the usual high quality finger foods and providing some medium quality wine and rather better soft drinks. He had also loaned Katie to help serve them.

Andy stood by ready to pour drinks or sell art, depending on who wanted what. Charlie, smart but not TOO smart, was ready to meet and greet and the door stood open invitingly.

Lunchtime onwards, The Gardens, Memorial Day Barbecue Party Post

[info]pups_dt
[info]morningstar_mnr
In the bright, early morning sunshine, when most Manorites were just beginning their days, the Manor gardens were bustling with activity. Members of the maintenance crew, including one Nick Flamel, were coming and going, taking care of last minute setup.

Mingling with the crew were the McClaren brothers and Icene Callan, dragging coolers of food and drink and tearing open packages of cups, plastic silverware, paper plates and napkins, doing their best to set everything up with some sort of sense of ease and flow in mind. There was some mild-mannered bickering about where and what was exactly the best placement, but by lunchtime everything was in place and the scent of grilling food began to waft across the gardens, calling guests in.

Party time!

Spring Ball - Nine pm til dawn.

[info]essayel
[info]morningstar_mnr
As ever the ballroom looked delightful. Tasteful floral decorations, thanks to the good efforts of Jane, stood around the walls and on the tables. The other maids had polished the floors to a high gloss and the caterers had been in early to set up their buffet tables and the bar.

The band, in tuxedos and smart black frocks, played quietly - they would save their dance numbers for later and the young guy with the disco was in a back room, his equipment all set up and tested, for when the live musicians needed a rest.

All that was required now was a few guests.

Chippendales Performance and after

[info]essayel
[info]morningstar_mnr
It's either hot as hell or hysterical depending on your personality. But nobody, as far as anyone can tell, is actually bored.

[ooc: For those of us who have never been to a Chippendales performance here are some handy dandy visuals - One and Two, which sort of stops part way through but gives a fair idea.]

Arrivals - all the ladies/all the guys who plan to attend

[info]essayel
[info]morningstar_mnr
The place was packed with excited groups of women [and a few token men] jostling to get to their seats.

Close to the front of the stage was one tranche of the seating that was clearly marked "Reserved for Morningstar Manor" and it was towards this that the ladies of the Manor made their way.

Towards the back, on the other side on the elevated section that would give a very good view was another area clearly marked "Mizz Shirley Trocadero and Guests". It was towards this that those male Manor tenants who were brave enough to attend made their way.

One way and another it was likely to be quite a night.

[ooc: usual event rules apply - tag away darlings, everyone's OTA tonight, though it's a good idea to check threads to see where they are going so to maintain continuity. The performance post goes up next.]

Gardens, mid-Morning Onwards, Memorial Day BBQ (Party Post)

[info]pups_dt
[info]morningstar_mnr
Adam had been watching the weather report since Wednesday with increasing trepidation, but as Sunday dawned it appeared like it was going to cooperate. Thank God.

So, with little hesitation he bustled up Joe - who was only too happy to be awoken so early - and went about getting things set up with help from the boys from maintenance.

Now with the sun shining invitingly, Adam left Joe at one entrance to the gardens and took up a seat himself at another, smiling charmingly and encouraging people to come out and enjoy the sunshine.

OOC: Thanks to Sal for her help and advice, and to Sam for putting this up for me 'cause I had to work. Boo.

Fat Freddies Grill, near Pikestaff, Arcane Gig arrivals

[info]essayel
[info]morningstar_mnr
Charlie and Andy had arrived in good time, to be greeted warmly by Freddie who bowed over Andy's hand and then directed them to the side door and sent two of his bar men to help them carry their kit in.

They set up the drums and keyboards and amps and made what adjustments they could to the lights then went to sit at the bar with Freddie and eat the portions of his incandescent chili that he served. There they were joined by two of the waitresses, small brown haired Jess and tall blonde Lucy.

It didn't take very long before Andy was stifling annoyed giggles as Lucy posed and sighed and let it slip just how 'close' she had once been with the lead singer of Arcane while Jess, who had apparently been a good bit closer fumed and Charlie pretended to be butch and carefree about it.

Soon the bar began to fill and the waitresses were too busy to reminisce and Andy swung one denim clad leg and looked towards the doors, wondering if anyone she knew would arrive.

St Patrick's Day @ The Slaughtered Lamb

[info]essayel
[info]morningstar_mnr
The Lamb always has a rather Irish feel about it but tonight everything about it is green. Not the beer, though - that would be sacrilege.

There are traditonal dishes on the menu - irish stew and colcannon amongst them - traditional drinks and also traditional music both live and piped.

Drink at the bar, eat at the tables, and there is a dance floor for anyone gutsy enough to brave the speed of the fiddler.
