Morningstar Manor

Padget (pronounced to rhyme with hatchet) Burke lived with her husband Craig and their two children, Mathilda (Tilly) and James (Jamie) in the Manor from the mid 80's to early 90's, when Padget suffered a tragic accident in an open elevator shaft during one of the Manor's "incidents." She died instantly, never knowing what happened. Her husband, grief stricken, took the children and moved out of the Manor shortly after. Nobody knows where.

For years Padget has known nothing, but now, perhaps because someone's moved into "her" apartment, or there's been construction, or something else has happened, she's woken up.

At first she'll be invisible or just barely glimpsed by those in the Manor who she meets, which will frustrate and frighten her because SHE will see those residents who are alive as the spirits. Over time, she'll come to realize something is very wrong. She might even meet a few of you who won't realize she is, in fact, dead -- just that she seems a little strange, a little out of date, (but not so much it's immediately obvious) and that she has a habit of disappearing and appearing when you least expect it.

Padget is caught in a sort of time loop that activates if she goes in the elevator -- once there she blacks out and wakes up again in her apartment to start all over. Sort of a macabre Groundhog Day. She has only the vaguest memory of her husband and children, though it will return in time.

Since there's a bunch of boxes in the basement storage that have her name on them and are full of her past, at some point she'll be able to figure out what happened to her, but she'll need the help of someone living to help her piece it all together.

I can't live without the Manor. Lord knows, I've tried. But I can't live without it, I just can't! When Maru gets back from her vacation I hope to resurrect Eamon more fully, based on if we ever have time to play (different time zones suck, man!) but I'm also going to bring in a new character. She's going to be a ghost with the PB of Gillian Anderson at various ages, and I'm working on her full story, etc. now. My play time will vary, obviously, everyone's does, but I think I'll be on MOST often in the evenings/nights as well as squeaking in some daytime tags as often as I can in between work. So anyone who's around from 8pm - 11 pm or so EST...I'm hoping we can play!

Howdy all, Ceil here getting in on the spawning season a little. This here dude is Phineas Pandigaeshik. He's lived in the Manor since October of '06 with his wife (pandabridge) . They have 18 month old twins and have had a fairly rocky marriage. So you may have witnessed a fight or two, especially if you live on the 6th floor. Phin co-owns a construction company and he's an outdoorsy type person. His PB is Michael Trucco. And there's lots of other info Here. He's all yours for plotty stuffs or just for the hell of it :) This concludes Ceil's ramble.

Dears, I've been looking back to check something on GJ and the site is getting more and more broken. The calendars still work but many of the other tools are either gone or their buttons are blank. If there's anything on there you want I seriously suggest that you make copies before it becomes inaccessible.

Hello everyone! My name is Lina and I'm a new addition to the players in the Mansion. My character is called Emily Brandon, and I will bring her around as soon as I know her app number (nudge nudge hint hint, mods. :D).

I have been roleplaying quite a bit in the past mostly on forums and chats, but this is my very first journal RP. I should also note that I'm actually from Finland, meaning that English is not my first language. I hope that keeps the resident grammar/spelling nazis at bay if I make small errors. ;D

About Emily, though -

She is a 29 year old woman working as a restaurant chef. She is new to the town as she is only now moving in because of a job offer she got from the restaurant La Fee Vert. She is extremely career driven and very successful. If some other character is very restaurant-savvy, they might recognize her name since she has been and still is writing a column in a gourmet magazine - let's call it Gourmet - and has been the chef of several Michelin-starred restaurants. Even though she is seemingly outgoing and friendly, her personal life has been a little... dry... due to her giving everything to her job. Her PB, by the way, is Rachel Weisz.

That's about it, I think. As I said, Emily will move in as soon as we get our appartment number. ;)

As of today all the threads to date are tagged. It's up to you whether you tag subsequent threads or not, but if you don't I will try to do so as I read through the comms. It seems to work - sort of.

ETA: to make the tags visible to everyone I've changed the style of the Manor to S2. This means it looks a bit different. We'll try and make it pretty later.

I've put up a description of Xander's shop (with visual aids) on his journal here, if anyone is interested/wants a better idea of how things look. :)

The gym is open for business as usual.

The layout has changed a little, though. The large workout area close to the mirrors is as before for the dancers and yoga people, and the punchbags are in the same place. However the multigym is now closer to the door and all the treadmills, rowing machines, etc are facing the wall at the far end where a large flat screen TV has been hung to play a variety of DVDs with subtitles only, no sound, so people can have something to look at while they workout and STILL enjoy their own choice of music on their iPods.

The wooden floor is neatly polished and the showers at the far end of the room have been refurbished as well.

Was going to say this last week only what with the funeral and all - sorry.
